Since there’s already a thread on this, please don't lock it—there are way too many pages to try and cram everything into one spot without it getting messy. I'm looking for a really solid Krav Maga club here in Washington, D.C. I want somewhere I can actually learn something and get a decent workout, you know? I need honest sparring and real contact. The thing is, I've got some lower back issues. My doctors told me I’ll be fine to get back into training once I finish physical therapy, but I figured switching to Krav Maga might put less strain on my spine. Plus, there are a few gaps in my skillset I want to plug anyway. For context, I did four years of Kyokushin, five years of Muay Thai, and about four years of MMA until late 2013 when the injury hit. I also did two years of Nanbudo as a kid, but that doesn't really count. I'm hunting for a top-tier Krav Maga gym so I can keep my martial arts life going. I'm specifically interested in knife defense and stuff like that—places where they practice the practical stuff more often. I want high intensity, too. I'm not looking for some "twice a week" hobbyist setup. Are there any good spots out near the Fairgrounds or maybe over on Saturday? If anyone has a recommendation or an instructor's contact info so I can chat with them, I'd appreciate it. I think what I'm asking for is pretty realistic. Most of the stuff I've trained in was for self-defense anyway; I'm not looking to go out and pick fights on the street. I'm 25, I grew up in this stuff, and I just want to stay involved despite the situation.
