The Peanuts 3D animated movie is currently in production and looks to be hitting theaters in November 2015! So exciting! 🎉

IMDb

Everything we know about this film is being kept pretty close to the chest right now, though I guess it is worth noting that it's being produced by Craig, who is the son of Charles Schulz, and his son Bryan—the grandson—is actually one of the co-writers for this animated adventure. As for the director, it’s Steve Martino, who I believe is most famous for directing the fourth installment of the Ice Age series and Horton Hears a Who!.

Blue Sky Studios / 20th Century Fox released a little teaser trailer recently

The untitled animated film has been scheduled for release on Nov. 25, 2015. That year will mark the 65th anniversary of the debut of the Peanuts comic strip and the 50th anniversary of the TV special a Charlie Brown Christmas.

Man, this actually made my day ^^ Speaking of the gang, does anyone have links or anything for the older Peanuts stuff? I remember watching Bon Voyage Charlie Brown as a kid (and don't you dare come back XD), but it was ages ago, so if some kind soul knows a spot online where I can just chill and watch Peanuts in peace, please be a legend and share 🙂

I caught this movie a few days ago and, honestly, it didn't really hit the mark for me—maybe I just went in with too high expectations. The whole plot felt kind of flat, and the voice acting was pretty dull and monotone; it just lacked soul. Usually, I'm a fan of American dubbing, but they really missed the mark here. After sitting through it, I've come to the conclusion that Charlie Brown and Snoopy don't quite work in a long-form feature—they’re much better suited to those short, snappy episodes like they used to be. Anyone else checked it out yet? What did you guys think?

The whole plot felt somewhat uninspiring, and the voice acting was just... off. It felt flat, almost devoid of actual emotion, which is strange because I usually appreciate a good American dub, but this one felt poorly executed. After sitting through it, I've come to the conclusion that Charlie Brown and Snoopy aren't really built for a full-length feature; they seem much better suited to those short, punchy episodes we used to see. Has anyone else seen it yet? I'm curious if I'm alone in this.

I completely agree with you. That voice acting was genuinely subpar—it was actually quite distracting.

I mean, seriously, why on earth would any adult even bother watching something with American dubbing? I don't care if it's a major motion picture or just some random cartoon, it's honestly exhausting.

I actually would. I love animated films, and I love a good American dub. Most of the time, the dubbing in American cartoons has been great—really solid work. There have been a few exceptions that let me down, and this movie is one of them.

Christian Myers said:I'm definitely in. I’ve always been a huge fan of animated movies and high-quality dubbing. For the most part, the American dubbing in cartoons has been top-tier or at least pretty solid. But honestly, there have been a few recent ones that totally missed the mark, and this movie is right up there with them.

Seriously, I can't even stand listening to our local dubbing for five seconds without losing my mind.

Everyone has different tastes, I guess. Personally, I actually enjoy hearing someone with a bit of a Southern drawl or a New Yorker accent in our cartoons—as long as they nail it. Take those new Smurf movies, for example. I thought the version with the Southern accent was great, maybe even better than the original. I saw one where they used a thick Midwestern accent, though, and man... that was just painful to listen to.

Look, I don't know, I just can't stand it when people try to muffle the truth because I honestly can't stand being forced to listen to some third-party dubbing when I've heard the actual original audio before.

It’s like if I’m watching a classic Hollywood movie, I want to hear the actors speaking English, or if it's a foreign film, I want to hear the actual language they used, you know?

But hey, if anyone else wants to sit there listening to dubbed voices, be my guest. 👍
