First off, my apologies to the admins if this thread already exists or if I'm posting in the wrong section—my situation is a bit specific, so I figured I’d just start a new topic.
So, last night, a tooth started acting up (a pretty steady, nagging pain).
I was out in the city today when the pain suddenly ramped up significantly. Since I happened to be right near a dentist's office, I decided to just pop in.
I politely explained the situation to the receptionist and asked if I needed an appointment, but the dentist actually saw me immediately—super helpful!
He took a look at what was going on and determined there was some inflammation. He prescribed some antibiotics and scheduled me for a follow-up in two weeks.
Basically, they told me the roots need to be removed—and since I have a pretty low pain tolerance, I have to ask: does that hurt badly? Also, will I be able to eat and talk normally afterward?
But once I got home, things went south. The pain became absolutely unbearable—just this dull, throbbing ache (honestly, it made me want to jump off a balcony). It comes in waves—about 3 to 5 minutes of intense pain, then 5 minutes of relief, then it starts all over again. I took my first dose of antibiotics and some Tylenol 500 for the pain. But even five hours later, the pain hasn't let up (I know the antibiotic takes about 12 hours to kick in, but I'm talking about the Tylenol). One more thing: since I'm currently unemployed, am I required to pay for health insurance? I mean, it isn't exactly cheap $3.25 but why pay for it if I don't need it? I've been registered with the unemployment office ever since I finished high school two years ago.
