It’s got a glossy panel, so I guess you should probably expect some reflections if you're using it in a bright room

They're solid, especially considering the price from that link, but honestly, I think those Dell models are overpriced. Most of those IPS panels are actually made by Samsung anyway. You get the same 3-year warranty as you would with a Samsung (though not through that specific retailer), but you deal with what people call an overly aggressive coating on the screen, frequent screen bleeding depending on which unit you grab, and they're just more expensive than the competition. For about $1,200, you can already find those supposedly "upgraded" AH-IPS or AD-PLS panels.

If you look at these threads regarding 23" and 24" monitors, you'll find plenty of Dell users venting their frustrations if you care to look. Personally, unless you absolutely need a pivot function, I’d consider an ASUS VX series. A 5-year warranty is a 5-year warranty, plus you're getting a higher-tier model; for that budget, you won't find better quality. Besides, shipping is only going to cost you about $13

Well, even that Dell features an AH-IPS panel. To be honest, most IPS monitors these days utilize AH-IPS technology, so you really can't go wrong there.

Over at Best Buy, they have this particular model, which also comes highly recommended.

The thing is, I don’t really carry cash on me—not my style, unfortunately—so I’ve just been scraping by finding these little local spots where you can pay per meal... if you're hanging around San Francisco.^^ Does that basically mean I should steer clear of Dell at those price points?
Also, what exactly is a pivot? And which specific model actually comes with a glossy panel?

The stand lets you rotate the monitor 90 degrees—so you can flip it from landscape to portrait mode whenever you need.

Anyone got some solid recommendations for a monitor in the $400 range? Ideally looking for something I could pick up at a local shop in Cleveland—maybe somewhere like Best Buy or Micro Center if they have anything decent in stock—but honestly, if there's an online retailer with killer deals and fast shipping, I'm all ears... Just need something versatile enough for gaming, binge-watching, and maybe doing a little amateur video editing on the side...

Thanks

From this link here, go ahead and order the IPS panel with pivot support in the 23" size
