Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some solid recommendations for the best laptop I can get for under $1000.

Is there anything actually better than what Best Buy has on sale right now? Here's the link: http://www.bestbuy.com/informatika/lap...X751SJ_TY002D/

What kind of pitfalls should I look out for with this ASUS model? Specifically—is there any component in here that’s just bottom-of-the-barrel?

The screen needs to be 17.3", but beyond that, I just want the most bang for my buck at this price point.

Thanks.

That processor is a joke.

That HP is way more powerful. Sure, its one-year warranty isn't perfect, but you can just pay extra for an extended plan or pick it up at Micro Center where you get it right away—even if you pay a bit more for the convenience.

This ASUS actually features dedicated graphics, unlike the HP... And honestly, I don't think there's much of a gap regarding the CPU either—maybe a tiny edge to the Core i3, but that's about it.🤔
With a little overclocking, that Intel Pentium N3700 can hit 2.4GHz.

The Core i3 wins this one by a landslide.

Clock speed isn't everything, and honestly, who knows how long that 2.4GHz can even hold steady?

You didn't even mention the graphics card, which matters. But hey, if you aren't planning on gaming, then it doesn't really matter anyway.

Would this Intel Pentium N3700 be decent enough just for streaming movies or browsing with maybe ten tabs open? And would I actually feel a noticeable difference if I stepped up to the Core i3?
Oh, and I might occasionally use Photoshop—does that mean I really need a dedicated graphics card?

Thanks

You’d definitely feel the lag. I highly doubt an Intel processor could handle that smoothly without breaking a sweat.

When it comes to Photoshop, the CPU is what really matters. A dedicated graphics card barely makes a dent in most tasks.

Alright, let me wrap this up—I’m pulling the trigger and ordering the laptop tomorrow...

Is this actually the best deal out there right now for a 17.3-inch model?

A few sales have started popping up across various retailers lately, so I figured I should check if there might be something even better on offer before I commit.

Thanks,

That HP deal is still easily the best value out there.
