What was actually so legendary about it? Sure, he had a decent launch, and maybe he
gained a tiny fraction of a second at the start, but nothing spectacular happened.
The clearest proof is in the onboard footage from his perspective. He just floors it and stays perfectly straight without making any maneuvers before the first turn. He got lucky because Romain Grosjean, Mark Webber, and Lewis Hamilton were all busy fighting, blocking, and cutting each other off right in front of him, which made his job significantly easier. Thereβs no denying it was a clean start, but it isn't some miracle worthy of 800 emojis and endless praise...
It would be nice if people on this forum could have a civilized discussion about F1
instead of constantly reading through petty bickering about "dirty driving," "whining," "cheating," or who the "true champions" are.
I'm not an Alonso fan, but I find it easy to admit he's the best. Why can't
everyone else look at race situations realistically, or at least try to? If Vettel was "2 seconds faster per lap" today, who's to say that's entirely down to the car? Isn't it theoretically possible the car provided 1.8 seconds, and Vettel himself clawed back that extra 0.2? π€·
That was just one start in this race, but you clearly aren't watching the other races where he consistently slices through the field one by one. The only person he might not overtake is Adrian Newey.
