Monitor advice: Screen size vs. aspect ratio?

I'm looking to pick up a new monitor and I've got a few things I'm stuck on, so I'd love some advice from the pros here 🙂
Right now my desk is a total mess because I've got an old 20" iMac sitting above a 26" LCD (only 720p) that I use for my PS3. I just got a new PC setup, and my big goal is to declutter everything and run it all through one single monitor. Ideally, I need something with HDMI plus either DisplayPort or DVI. An IPS panel would be great, and built-in speakers are a plus, though I can easily sort that out later if needed. My budget is around $833, and I’ll probably use it about 70% for PC work and 30% for the PS3
My first dilemma is size: should I go with 23/24" or jump up to 27"? Since I game, I'm leaning toward the 27", but I'm worried that might be too large for a 1920x1080 resolution—I don't want the pixel pitch to feel too chunky while I'm working on the computer
Second question: 16:10 or 16:9 aspect ratio? For productivity, I'd love 16:10, but I've noticed some Dell monitors don't handle HD resolutions very well—they just stretch the image to fill the whole screen. Does anyone know of a 16:10 monitor that handles 1080p or 720p properly by adding black bars at the top and bottom instead of stretching it?
A few models have caught my eye, so if anyone has experience with them, please let me know 🙂

Asus vs278q—not an IPS, but it has speakers and pretty decent reviews
AOC i2369vm or the 27" version. These AOC models seem to check all my boxes: IPS (looks like they use LG panels based on what I've read), built-in speakers, etc. The price is also great, I'm just a bit hesitant because I haven't seen many deep-dive reviews

That black tint issue you're seeing? That’s on your media player software, not the monitor itself.

It’s actually not an issue with the software, but rather a setting on the monitor itself—it needs to support 1:1 pixel mapping. I'm talking about when you hook up a console that outputs a resolution higher than HD

Thanks! I see you’re also eyeing that Dell 24ea53vq—it’s definitely been stuck in my head too. It’s my top pick so far. On paper, the Samsung looks pretty tempting, but I can't stop thinking about that extra screen real estate on the Dell; that slight bump in diagonal size really makes a difference. My one big question is whether a 27" monitor at this resolution actually holds up in person, or if it’s just too much pixelation for everyday work.
