– Exactly one year after their killer set at the revamped Lollapalooza last June, Slayer is coming back to do something that’s been a total pipe dream for their die-hard fans: an intimate club show, right here in Chicago! We’re talking about a band that’s been headlining massive global festivals for tens of thousands of people, a band that was playing Madison Square Garden just two years ago, now stepping down to play for a mere 1,300 fans. This is easily one of the most essential shows of the entire concert year.
After Lollapalooza ran into some scheduling issues last year due to low turnout, the organizers pivoted, leaving Slayer to headline a new event held out in an industrial warehouse district. Even that smaller capacity of just 2,700 people was enough of a magnet to pack the place out on that crazy, stormy night on June 8th. Now, Slayer is returning the favor since they stayed on the bill back then. They found a gap in the calendar and they’re hitting Chicago for an exclusive club gig at The Fillmore on Sunday, 06.23.!
This is the kind of setup fans across America and the rest of the world would drop serious cash for; Slayer in a club, happening right here in Chicago with a strictly limited run of just 1,300 tickets. Because the production for this isn't your typical small-club gear, the capacity at The Fillmore will be slightly reduced from its usual max. There won't be any opening acts either—the whole night is designed as an “An evening with Slayer” experience. If this sells out, there won't be any extra tickets released and they aren't moving the show to a bigger venue. It's just fans going face-to-face with Tom Araya and the crew in an incredibly rare Slayer club concert setting.
Slayer is currently in the home stretch of working on their new studio album, which should drop in the second half of this year, so don't be surprised if they debut some brand-new tracks in Chicago.
We've got a pretty sweet promo price for an event this huge, at just $63, going on sale this Friday, 02.22. That price sticks until 03.07., and starting 03.08., tickets go up to $73. If you're lucky enough to snag them on the day of the show, the price will be $83.
So, late June at The Fillmore is looking legendary. With only a two-day gap, you've got Slayer on 06.23., followed by Phil Anselmo and the heavy hitters in Down on 06.25. It's basically a holiday for anyone in the US who lives for heavy music!
