Hitman: Agent 47

After just one sequel from 2007 starring Timothy Olyphant, production is finally gearing up for a reboot of one of the most iconic hitmen ever created by the gaming industry.
The film will be helmed by commercial director Aleksander Bach, marking his first major feature film. The screenplay is being handled by Mike Finch and Skip Woods. Timothy Olyphant won't be returning as the Silent Assassin; he actually mentioned that the only reason he took on the original 2007 film was to cover the costs of his new house. Instead, the lead role goes to Paul Walker, the actor we all know from Fast & Furious. Filming kicks off this summer, with locations set in Berlin and Singapore.

Honestly, I’m having a really hard time picturing Walker going bald—especially if he's playing some kind of hitman. 🤷

Yeah, I've mostly forgotten the 2007 version (thank God), so I'm really hoping this next one actually hits the mark.
If we're lucky, we might actually get a solid new franchise out of this.
At first, I was picturing how much Walker would suit the part, but honestly, he's way too pretty for a killer like this. I won't judge until I finally see 🙂

I mean, I think Paul Walker was totally awesome in the Fast & Furious series, but honestly? I just can't picture him playing the part of Hitman... though hey, who am I to judge, right?

Jason Statham would have been such a killer choice for this, or even Christian Bale.

Paul Walker might just drag Hitman down to the level of an Uwe Boll production. I’ve never been much of a fan of his acting, and I have a nagging fear that the new Hitman will be miles inferior to the one starring Olyphant.

Bale would have been a much better fit. Even if you set his looks aside, it’s the voice that matters. Bale has this incredible ability to mimic a specific vocal tone, much like Agent 47. I was particularly struck by that calm, composed style he pulled off in Equilibrium. He carries a certain charisma that I think would suit the role far more naturally than Walker. I find myself wondering how he’d sound once he actually starts talking. My only fear is that it might end up sounding too juvenile. 🤣

Honestly, making a movie based on this game just feels pointless. One attempt is fine—everyone needs a fresh start sometimes, from the actors to the directors—but a sequel or a reboot? The game was special because it took this random character, this mysterious protector and larger-than-life hero, and brought him into a virtual world through such high-quality gameplay. That first game offered so much choice and freedom in how you actually carried out an assassination. It was great and it blew people away because nothing else like it existed in gaming back then. But now? Trying to bring those types of characters back to the big screen, where we've seen endless versions of protectors and mystery heroes in everything from superhero flicks to Luc Besson movies... 🙄 Not even the barcode on his neck is going to save this one. 😁

The Max Payne movie was total garbage, and honestly, the Hitman flick isn't exactly anything to write home about either.

WHY EVEN MAKE A MOVIE BASED ON A GAME IF IT HAS ZERO CONNECTION TO THE ACTUAL SOURCE MATERIAL???

A Hitman movie should actually feel like the game—I mean, why even bother using the title and the main character's name if you're just gonna ignore everything else!!!

The movie needs to show how the ICA actually operates and include some cool mechanics for taking out targets as a Silent Assassin without anyone ever catching on.

But then again, the new Hitman is a trash game—seriously, Hitman is out here saving some cloned little girl🙄 WTF???

20th Century Studios has dropped a fresh international poster for their upcoming high-octane video game adaptation, Hitman: Agent 47.

This marks the second attempt to bring the hit Hitman video game to the big screen. The first time it was Justified and Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant had the title role, but this time we'll see Homeland star Rupert Friend as the lethal assassin.

He'll be starring alongside Hannah Ware, Zachary Quinto, Ciarán Hinds and Thomas Kretschmann. Aleksander Bach is stepping in to direct, working from a script by Skip Woods and Michael Finch.



Hitman: Agent 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research – and forty-six earlier agent clones -- endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.

Hmm, based on the trailer, it looks like he's actually the villain, even though the description presents him differently. I'm a bit worried about how that's going to play out in the end.

I actually thought the 2007 version held up pretty well. Based on this trailer, the new one looks like it's going to be great.

The new Hitman looks completely underwhelming. It’s basically just a malnourished version of the last one. At this rate, I won't even be able to afford a down payment on a house. And wait, is Sylar actually playing the protagonist? Don't even get me started on those special effects 🤣

I'm definitely watching this though ☕

While that first trailer made it look like Agent 47 was the main villain out to get our lead protagonist, the new trailer flips the script. It actually shows him trying to help her and protect her from the people hunting them both. On the flip side, the character played by Zachary Quinto is being shown in a completely different light now. He comes across as the guy who initially seemed like the good guy stepping in to shield our heroine, but he’s clearly bad to the bone and just wants to hand her over to his bosses for their experiments.
