A month ago, I picked up a 23-inch LED monitor for about $220. Total steal. Then, while I was cleaning up the mess in my room, I had to move it. I shut off the power, then plugged the connector back in just a minute later. Naturally, because I’m a genius, it died. I tried wiggling the cable to see if I could get some juice back, and it worked briefly—until any slight movement caused the screen to flicker out. After two days of playing doctor with the cables, it finally gave up the ghost. Since I’m a complete idiot, I tossed the receipt the second I walked out of the store, so returns are off the table. What are my options for fixing this? Is there any hope for my HD movie collection 🙂

After this mess, I hope you start keeping your receipts for life. Honestly, just take the monitor to a repair shop and let them deal with it; maybe if the retailer recognizes you, they'll actually feel generous enough to fix it under warranty. Obviously, you aren't going to mention that you were the one who broke it—you just tell them it stopped working. 😢

If you have a warranty certificate physically stapled to the product box, you might actually have a shot at getting that claim approved.

Honestly, it’s possible they just messed up some of the wiring

I'm totally with you on that.

I mean, I wouldn't say you'd necessarily need to call a Best Buy technician just to swap out a connector... but hey, that's probably the move if they try to play games with the warranty.
