I'm just waiting for someone to hire me to spin tunes at a beachside bar in 😁Maui.

Link something 😁

I don't think it's even worth questioning whether the music defines the crowd you attract to your cafe—the real question is, who are you actually aiming for?

Personally, I would never play David Guetta, Armand van Helden, or that whole crew they blast in those cheap, bottom-tier clubs...

More like Moby, The Smiths, Erykah Badu, Gorillaz, Bonobo...

Honestly, if you want to handle the evening rush without any stress, just hire a DJ and call it a day...

Good luck with the business!

Is this some kind of universal concept, or what?

Your choice of music really boils down to the specific crowd you’re trying to lure through the doors.
Around here, there’s this one spot that kills it by playing experimental jazz, then they’ll pivot into something like that first link you shared—I've caught them spinning The Smiths or Sigur Rós a few times. They might even throw on some Jack Johnson to round things out. Since they invested in high-end speakers, the volume can actually carry a bit of weight without drowning out the conversation.

Apparently, the place pulls a decent crowd, mostly younger people, and I’m honestly drawing a blank on what would actually fit the vibe. I handled the restaurant gig just fine—lots of vocal groups, classic soul, oldies—you can't really go wrong there—but this one has me spinning my wheels. I've been overthinking it for a while now and I'm running out of time to get this done.
Thanks, everyone!

No joke here

haha 🙏🙏🙏

But seriously—it would be absolutely killer, except the mindless masses would probably just scatter and head to some local dive bar to listen to Rozgin jewelry instead. 🙏

Alright music lovers.....

I know there was some thread floating around here about this kind of vibe,,, but I can't find it for the life of me...

Some guy posted once about looking for tunes to play at a seaside cafe during the day... and now I'm looking for the exact same thing...

I need that chill out stuff, basically minimal... something that feels like the comedown after a massive beach party... hehe... that kind of vibe...

If anyone’s got recommendations, just throw them out there...
