You can't mix different sockets together.

Future IT Shopping Cart

1 x Intel Skylake Core i5-6400 (2.7GHz, 6MB,LGA1151) box
1 x MSI H110M PRO-D (S1151, DDR4, USB3.1, SATA III, DVI, Audio, LAN) mATX Retail
1 x Kingmax 8GB DDR4 2133MHz
1 x HDD Seagate Barracuda 1TB, 64MB, 7200rpm, High-Performance
1 x Kingston UV400 240GB SSD, 2.5” 7mm, SATA 6 Gbit/s
1 x Zalman T5 Mini-Tower ATX case, no power supply, black
1 x Fortron Hexa+ 400W, 80+
1 x LG GH24NSD1 sat Bulk Black 24x

Total: $1280

Honestly, he doesn't even need an i5; this isn't exactly a heavy-duty workload.

Can you actually find this listed on RollingStone.com?

Thanks

Where's the GPU? Just using integrated graphics?

What if the kid actually wants to play some games? xD

That’s exactly why you go to someone who actually knows their stuff. 😁😁

With your budget, you can fit what I put together—decent CPU and GPU combo, so you won't be hunting for upgrades anytime soon.

If you happen to have $67 extra cash, I'd throw in a GTX 1050ti. It'll keep you set for gaming way longer. 😁

He explicitly stated there wouldn't be any gaming involved 😁
A GPU isn't even necessary for web design work

Jack Reed, you can find the exact same components at Best Buy, though they might charge you a bit more; just swap in a basic case for around $100-$50

Rolling Stone is a pretty terrible magazine, unfortunately.
