Hey,

Can someone explain where my posts went?! If a thread starter deletes a comment, am I supposed to get some kind of notification? Honestly, I don't even get why anyone would bother deleting anything in the first place.

Posts get pulled if the mods decide they don't actually belong in a specific thread, and there can be all sorts of reasons for that. In your case—looking back at what was removed over on the Green Party board—it fell under things like being off-topic, spamming, trolling, or just being disrespectful... basically, you were breaking the subforum rules in a few different ways. You don't really need a formal notification when a post is taken down; if you suddenly can't see it anymore, that's your sign. Just a heads-up though, asking to have a deleted post restored is itself a violation of the rules, which usually results in a strike and the post staying gone.

If you're ever genuinely confused about why something was deleted, feel free to reach out to the moderators of that specific subforum via private message or over on the Democratic Party board. Just please don't try to debate moderator decisions right inside the thread where the post was removed, because jumping into a discussion about moderation in the middle of a topic is also against the rules.

Thanks for the deep dive. Honestly, I didn't realize communicating here could get this "complicated." It’s wild how people manage to find insults in absolutely everything. I guess it’s no wonder everyone claims they want freedom of speech, yet somehow, that’s the one thing nobody actually gets to have! And seriously, am I crazy for noticing that the newer members seem to be the ones getting sanctioned more often? Because I've lost count of how many times I've seen blatant, heavy-duty insults posted without anyone lifting a finger.

I'm not quite sure which deleted post you're referring to, but if you look just to the left of the post under the username, there's a little triangle icon right there; you can click that whenever you spot something offensive or anything else that breaks our community guidelines. Once you hit that, the moderators for this specific sub-forum will get a notification and they'll step in to handle it based on our rules.

Look, if you’re willing, I could really use a little more help! My post on the Zapatistas forum just got nuked. It was in the "In Love but Unhappy" thread. I was quoting post #25, but my reply ended up being #30, which is now occupied by some user named anin1. And yeah, I know about the warning icon—I read every single rule before I decided to actually start posting instead of just lurking! Seriously, is it now a valid reason for someone to report me for "disruptive posting" just because they don't like what I have to say? As long as I'm not being offensive, that shouldn't count. I'm still pretty new to this, but it's blindingly obvious that people just can't handle a comment unless it's perfectly sweet and sugary!

So sorry it took me forever to get back to you, life just gets so incredibly hectic sometimes! 😁

I went back and took a look at the specific post you were talking about, and honestly? I think the mods made the right call by pulling it down. It was written in such a provocative, troll-ish way, and the way you generalized everyone in that entire faith—basically shoving all those followers into one primitive stereotype—is exactly the kind of thing that would leave people feeling insulted. Just a little friendly advice: maybe try to be a bit more mindful of how you phrase things and give it a second thought before you hit that "post reply" button.

Rebecca Barrett98 said:So, let me get this straight—my comment can be unpopular with someone else (without even containing an ounce of offensive language) and that’s enough reason for them to report me for "disruptive posting"?

Well, "someone else" might also take issue with your haircut (depending on how much of a fashion snob they are 😁) and report you for being messy too—but the real point here is that filing a report doesn't mean you're automatically punished.

The moderators are the ones who decide whether to delete things, issue warnings, or hand out bans.
