I’m flagging this thread under the religion category because it feels like it's just stirring up hate and inciting conflict... I tried to make my point—and honestly, I thought my protest actually worked, maybe even earned me a warning from the mods—but somehow the post is still sitting there...

Since when is calling things out considered harassment or hate speech??

I’d like to remind everyone how many times the religion subforum has been hit with that same old argument—the idea that atheism inevitably leads to a lack of morality, or that the atrocities committed by regimes like the Nazis or the Communists were direct consequences of society becoming secularized.

For goodness sake, Morgan Rodriguez57, you even bolded 'the reborn Christians' in the text—clearly referring to those fundamentalists (and let’s be honest, we don't even need to count them to know they're everywhere in the US). So, does calling out these lunatics actually constitute 'inciting hatred' when you're just pointing out the obvious?😕

Sorry Basta!
Even as a Christian myself, I don't see any evidence of widespread hate speech targeting Christians on a global scale here.
The real question we should be asking—is this driven by pure fanaticism, or is it simply a mental health issue? Is it fueled by this reckless zealotry and a complete misinterpretation of Christian doctrine that led to such a malicious act?

I mean, the Chapman case seems pretty straightforward to me—trying to link his motives back to Christianity feels like a bit of a stretch, even if we don't know everything about him... he did it out of pure hatred, and the outcome was nothing more than an inflammatory post... it feels like you religious mods are just avoiding facing that specific reality...

Ever considered the fact that there are crazies in every Christian congregation out there? He might have just been some lunatic who imagined he was killing Lennon in the name of Christ or to spread the faith (and I’m only saying this because of that post you linked—honestly, I don't care what his deal was). Every religion, every movement, every ideology has its fanatics and psychos. If someone looks at the fact that the crazy Chapman guy was Christian, and his girlfriend was too, and concludes he killed Lennon for those reasons, that doesn't say anything about other Christians, and nobody should be taking it personally.

there isn't even a hint of hate speech or anyone being hassled here
I mean, look, if someone is clearly struggling or just out of sorts, they could have turned to Zen Buddhism for all I care and ended up thinking the exact same thing

And honestly, even us admins can't see anything resembling incitement or hate speech here.

If this is hate speech 🤦

It’s fine... I mean, I can already see it coming—tomorrow I'll probably be flooded with posts about religion, specifically how some old-school politicians used Christian values just to mask their own corruption, or stories about how certain high-profile assassins are practically forced to say their prayers before bed, or how people in power trample over everyone else because they think "Christian principles" somehow give them a pass to be reckless... honestly, I'm almost looking forward to it... 👍

I guess tomorrow I can look forward to all the posts about religion—you know, like how the old administration used Christianity just to mask their corruption, or how those political assassins are forced to say their prayers at night, or how some politician tramples people because he thinks "Christian values" give him a pass to be reckless... yeah, can't wait... 👍

Sure thing. But honestly, I don't know how you haven't gotten bored of this yet...
