Not sure if I'm even in the right spot here, so my bad if I am. I'm stuck... I've got a massive headache with Pro Tools. Basically, I have both Pro Tools SX 3 and Pro Tools 5 installed, and I just tried to grab this drum plugin—EZDrummer. Now, every time I try to launch Pro Tools, it starts scanning every single live plugin I own. It takes forever, and the program just won't actually open. What do I do?

Is it scanning? You think it might just need more time to initialize? That’s a classic issue if you’re running some trial versions of plugins—they can be real headaches because they often demand re-registration every single time you boot up Pro Tools. Another thing that might help—and I swear by this—is to make sure all your plugins are installed in one centralized folder. If they aren't scattered across a hundred different directories, the software can "grab" them much faster from a single location.

It’ll pick them up way faster if they're all in one spot.

I grabbed some plugins off a torrent and installed them... Yeah, it takes forever to initialize and then it just won't even open. And on SX 3, it keeps throwing those Visual C++ errors at me constantly. Plus, the program just won't boot up either.

There are plugins everywhere, I guess... from Nero to RealPlayer.. how am I supposed to gather them all into one place?

Maybe start by running a scan on your PC with this and just clear out whatever errors it flags.

It found 337 problems, but I can't actually fix them without registering the software, and I don't have a license key. I'd buy the little thing if I could, but honestly, I'm paranoid about paying for stuff online. Just skeptical, I guess...

All you have to do is sign up—they’ll just shoot a key straight to your inbox, no actual purchase required... if you're still feeling skeptical, why not give Norton Utilities a spin instead: http://www.iobit.com/toolbox.html

So, I downloaded that tool and ran a scan for errors, fixed everything it found. Then I reinstalled Cubase and now I'm getting this Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library
runtime error
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the runtime library incorrectly.

Maybe try doing a clean reinstall of the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime -> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

I tried reinstalling the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime, but nothing changed. It’s still hitting me with that mvscp80 error right at startup. I did some digging online and found a few things... apparently, you can fix this using Visual Studio, maybe through some kind of side-by-side manifest thing. But honestly, what good is that to me if I don't even know how to navigate Visual Studio? That stuff is way over my head, man. You happen to know anything about this? Maybe...

Do you have the .NET framework installed? You really ought to see that mvscp80.dll sitting in your system files if you’ve got version 2.0 or anything newer running. You can grab it right here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

Wait—which version of Windows are you even running?

What version of Windows are you even running?

Windows XP. I actually found where mvscp80 is on my machine, so it's definitely there. From what I read, it seems like two apps might be clashing or blocking each other, and I guess they need to be separated... if I'm getting that right.

Oh yeah, I also noticed that the initialization just totally hangs on syncUIcore...

Just finished installing the .NET Framework, and it actually asked me if I wanted to run a repair... So I did. Then I fired up Cubase again and it’s still doing the exact same thing. Same problem.

Maybe try grabbing a different version instead. If you pulled that one off some random site, who knows what kind of junk might be bundled in there.

😕
The syncUI core is that Apple app used to sync an iPhone with a PC—I have absolutely no clue how that’s even relevant to Cubase right now. Honestly, just try uninstalling that piece of junk—it might be MobileMe or something similar.

Turns out I've got LG USB drivers installed for my phone. I'm trying to wipe them or delete them, but it keeps saying I can't?!

Finally wiped all that Apple junk off my system. No more SyncUI core issues, I guess, but now I'm constantly getting this error about some app trying to load without a manifest... then it just ends by saying it can't execute the resource load.
