Look, people are debating this because not everyone is glued to the web every single day, you know? It’s been years since some folks even touched a computer....

Honestly, it’s way better for people to just hop on here, ask around, and hear some real talk or warnings before they dive in. Better to get a heads-up now than to fall for some scam and end up flushing their hard-earned cash down the toilet.

Of course 🙂 It’s always a good idea to ask.

I just want to say, for heaven's sake, people, please just use Google. 🙂 Most of the time it gives you the answer to these kinds of dilemmas, simply because someone out there has almost certainly run into a similar issue before.

I'm selling a Nikon 18 lens. I just posted the ad on Craigslist and someone from England contacted me saying they want to buy it for their son, who is traveling to the USA. They offered $300 for the total cost of the item plus shipment via post to the USA. Now they're asking for my bank account details, phone number, and all sorts of things, which feels incredibly sketchy to me. Has anyone dealt with anything like this before??

A bit off-topic, but I was thinking about opening a dedicated PayPal account to start doing some trading over on eBay, so if anyone has recommendations, let me know. I'm mentioning this because I was planning to set up the account this Monday and then give this guy those account details.

Man, you really lack that entrepreneurial spirit.
You should have told him:
"That sounds great, I'm actually heading to the USA next month myself. I'm selling everything now to fund the trip, so you can pay me right away. Just send me your address and I'll hand-deliver it to you personally."
😁🙂

The whole Nigeria thing is probably the oldest scam on the internet. 🙄

Just a quick Google search would tell you everything.

For example:

Hope you didn't send anything.☕

But isn't that literally why forums even exist? To have discussions like this? I was looking for real stories from people here in the States. Where else am I gonna find them? On Google???
And obviously, I didn't send him anything...

You should've hit him with:
"Sounds great, I'm heading to Nigeria next month. I'm selling everything I own right now to fund the trip. So, go ahead and wire me the cash. Send me your address and I'll deliver it in person."
😁 🙂

👍 Oh, if only I'd thought of that sooner...
