I’ve been hearing from quite a few people that this whole topic is way too over-the-top and gross... basically asking why we haven't shut the damn thing down yet. It lines up perfectly with how I feel, so honestly, just kill the thread.

Dammit, you can't please everyone..

Joshua Garcia8 said:Great, except you know how the rules work here... either you upload the actual slip or you're breaking the guidelines.

And I remember you mentioning on the daily thread that someone might bet $100 to walk away with $60—wasn't it just easier to simply list the odds? Or, if there's really a need to talk about specific amounts, why not just attach the ticket right then and there?

Yeah, that’s what I was wondering... Why is it mandatory to post a ticket when people are already talking about specific stakes or potential payouts? Especially when we're dealing with ridiculous numbers like $6.75...

To me, it feels like a bigger violation of the spirit of things to lead people straight toward a loss, like this one:

The rules seem a bit odd, I guess, but they're still the rules and we have to follow them.😁

To me, the real rule-breaking is pushing people toward a guaranteed loss, like this—

Well, look at that post you linked—it's been nuked, hasn't it?

As for posting slips, those are just the rules. If you mention a dollar amount, you gotta show proof. Without that rule, things would get "interesting" with everyone just throwing out random numbers 😉

edit:
@analogcobra6/">@@analogcobra6, which rules are acting weird?

So come on, show us those $250 winning slips, otherwise you're straight up breaking the PDF rules.

Looking at this thread, I gotta say, after all the time I've spent here, I don't see any freaking sense in this subforum rule.

Why aren't people allowed to mention specific amounts? And if they do, why do they have to prove it with scans? We're all anonymous here—nobody's privacy is being violated.
Why isn't there any empathy for people struggling with gambling addiction? A lot of us—myself included—are pathologically hooked. Do you guys even realize what gamblers go through? The sheer anxiety, the nerves, the constant hope, the crushing disappointment, the rage... the mental agony and suffering it causes.
When we're broken, we just want to share a bit of that sadness, just like we share the joy when we hit big. If someone mentions numbers, what's so terrifying about that? Why do you admins have to mentally crush us? Isn't the stress from betting enough already?
Please, just be human for once. Be realistic and change these harmful rules that do nothing but frustrate us. This is a forum; everything should be allowed except for insults, hate speech, and actual trolling.

Later!

Cheers!

I'll answer here, then move the posts to the relevant thread regarding the PDF rules.
Nobody said you can't mention amounts; you can, you just need to attach proof. It’s not about privacy. The reasons have been explained plenty of times already, but here’s the gist...
Joshua Garcia8 said:Well, look at the crowd... we've got everyone here, from serious players to jokers, students, retirees, ego-trippers, and those who aren't. Better to prevent the mess than try to fix it later.

If that rule didn't exist, people would post fake amounts that don't match their actual bets. Others would just copy someone else's big win, and if things went south, there'd be massive pile-ons, swearing, and chaos.
What do you mean by "no understanding"? In what way? Because posting wins/losses is restricted? I don't see the problem; attaching a ticket isn't rocket science.
🤷

Us (the moderators, not the admins) destroying you mentally?
Don't overdo it, please. You've actually left me speechless with that one.

Look, I'll make this simple. You put down $333 on some solid picks, lots of research and all that, maybe hitting a 3.00 odds. Then some guy rolls up claiming he dropped $3333 on three parlays at 5.00, or someone else says they put $1667 on an 8.00 underdog (doesn't even matter what the odds are). But here’s the reality: you actually put $333 on a 3.00 line, while this other dude just threw $3.25 at a 5.00 longshot without a single thought in his head about whether it'll hit or not. He writes that he wagered 10k instead of $3.25. It's just some guy on the forum trying to flex. This guy claims he bet $3333 on some plays and thinks maybe I should have $33 like him, then he loses—or occasionally hits once in a blue moon
.
So, it's not really about whether anyone doubts how much you actually wagered (whether it's 10, 20, 500, or $333), it's more that there'd be a million wannabes showing up to post massive numbers just to look cool in this digital space since they probably can't impress anyone in the real world (probably don't even vote for Vuca, so why bother).

I only have a couple of posts here, maybe two, but I'm planning on changing that. I recently posted a few parlays with a ton of analysis, but I didn't list the stake even though it was pretty huge... it busted, so I took a breather. In the next few days, I'll probably be more active in this sub, and regardless of whatever insane amount someone claims to have wagered, I know who's worth following. I'm hoping my breakdowns encourage people to follow along, or if someone disagrees, they'll actually tell me.

Anyway, to wrap up this late-night monologue—fueled by booze after coming home from a club where the male-to-female ratio was basically 1000:1 (hopefully I won't need a 😂 for that) —here's the bottom line. The stakes don't matter. No matter how much someone says they put down, we're all here to help each other out. If these guys show up claiming huge bets (that they aren't actually making) and happen to hit, it tricks people into following them, over and over again (though they'll likely lose way more than they win).

Edit: reading this back, I feel like grabbing another 🙂. It's like I'm smarter when I'm drinking :P

The only thing I can't wrap my head around is why anyone treats an online betting slip as actual evidence—you could easily fake one in MS Paint in about five seconds if you actually had the inclination.

If someone’s going to forge a ticket, they can do the exact same thing with a physical one.

Oh, really?

The point is—and I can't stress this enough—a posted ticket on this forum carries zero weight as proof.
It’s the same logic: if you believe someone hasn't tampered with their slip, then I suppose you'd just take their word for it when they claim they wagered $3333
too.

Steven Ross35 said:so what?

The thing is, posting a betting slip on a forum doesn't prove anything.
Just like how you might believe someone isn't faking their slip, you could just as easily believe them when they claim they bet $3333

.

Bottom line: if you're going to brag about your stakes or wins, show the actual receipt.

Personally, I don't see any point in forging slips and posting them—I mean, what's the goal there? If someone's doing that, they're mostly just lying to themselves. That said, I'm sure most of the slips posted here are legit and not fake. Regardless, the rule stays the same and it isn't changing.

Personally, I don't see any reason to go through the trouble of forging a ticket just to post it—I honestly can't fathom what the goal would be. If someone is actually doing that, they're mostly just lying to themselves. That said, I'm fairly confident that the vast majority of these slips are legitimate and haven't been doctored. Regardless, the rule stands, and it isn't changing.

They could just as easily lie about the amounts wagered; it's the same issue.

In any case, it doesn't really affect me since I don't bother posting my own slips, but this whole debate feels pointless—we aren't even using logic here, we're just arguing over who trusts whom.

Kudos to you for having so much patience and not losing your mind while trying to explain the same things over and over again to everyone. 🙏 👍

Just like my colleague laid out—and she did a pretty stellar job explaining it (shoutout to James Taylor3 and a few others who actually get the point here)—the rules about not posting stakes (or, if you insist, posting them only when you have actual proof of the wager) aren't going anywhere. If anyone has an issue with that, they’re more than welcome to find another corner of the internet to hang out in. 😉

Let me say this one more time:

We implemented this rule because we were getting hit every single day by people acting like high rollers—throwing around massive numbers on slips they hadn't even placed (or just betting pennies to look the part). At the end of the day, how much someone bets doesn't matter; what’s a huge amount for $17 might be nothing to someone else, while a 5k bet feels like 🤷 to another person.

I don't see any issue with not posting stakes, or if it makes you feel better, providing proof of payment 🤔

Moving forward, please stop dragging questions about this (or any other rule) into the daily threads. Keep the debate strictly within this specific topic.

Eric Fox7 said:Just like my colleague pointed out—and explained perfectly (with some help from zoomzoom, James Taylor3, and others who actually get the point)—the rules regarding posting stakes (meaning you can only post them if you provide valid proof of the bet) aren't changing. If anyone has an issue with that, they should find somewhere else to hang out. 😉

To reiterate once more:

The rule exists because we were dealing with people constantly blowing massive amounts of money on parlays they hadn't even actually placed (or were just playing for pennies). It doesn't matter how much someone is betting; what's a huge sum to one person might be a moderate $5,000 to $17 someone else. 🤷

I don't see any issue with not posting stakes, or if you prefer, only posting them with proof of payment. 🤔

Please stop dragging questions about this (or any other rule) into the daily threads. Keep those discussions strictly within this topic.

I’d put the bolded part at the top of every daily thread (with some minor tweaks) and update the rules so that anyone starting a new daily thread has to include it in their first post (it takes two seconds to copy-paste). That might prevent all these stupid arguments and petty fights in the daily threads. 🤷

It’s a brilliant concept, honestly—but I can’t help thinking there would still be those absolute geniuses out there who’d find a way to ignore it entirely 🙂

Sure, those types will always exist, but at least we’d have fewer people trying to explain to them why they're wrong. Maybe they'll eventually get bored of posting nonsense since their only goal is to farm attention on this forum—they don't know how to do anything else besides hang out online all day. The rest of us would actually get useful info instead of having half the daily thread wasted on arguing with idiots.

Man, what a sentence.🤣Anyway, I won't drag this out; I could write a million more reasons why this is a good move (it's practically a novel at this point 🤣), but if you guys really think this won't make any difference, then I'm wasting my breath typing this.🤷
