Metallica, Nightwish & Slipknot Universe @ The Fillmore, 10/14/2010

Alright, that’s two big announcements in a single day. 😬

The fall metal season is looking seriously stacked—we've got the massive folk-metal duo Metallica and Nightwish set to co-headline at The Fillmore.

It’s all going down on October 14th, and they'll be opening things up with the electro-pop outfit Godnr.universe—which is actually a project featuring Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams, the violinist and hurdy-gurdy player from Nightwish, plus she'll have some backup from her bandmates James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. This is gonna be Godnr.universe's first ever tour.

I think In Flames might be next on my list... maybe? 😁

I'm really looking forward to seeing Metallica... it’s gonna be such a blast, a total party. I just hope they actually play some stuff from their older albums, because honestly, this newer direction hasn't really clicked for me. Plus, Nightwish is on the bill, and they actually sound pretty good.

Hey, does anyone know when tickets actually go on sale? I was just out in Dallas recently, and they haven't even gotten their hands on them yet... I know it's way too early to be asking, but I guess I’m just a total control freak.

Nightwish hits different for me than Metallica—it’s just the truth. Look, I haven't even sat through a full Metallica album yet, but Nightwish just has that certain something. Sadly, I won't be making it to the show; I can't swing it right now, which sucks. I'm really digging the whole folk-metal vibe lately and I'm trying my best to wrap my head around the concept behind every new record. Plus, the mythology they weave into their tracks actually makes me want to go out and dig up some books on the subject myself. It's honestly pretty amazing.
