I picked up this bike about a year ago... grabbed it at a 30 percent discount. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with it. Does anyone else here ride this model? Are you satisfied? Just curious what your general take is on the brand and the overall build quality...

So, I recently picked this thing up and honestly, I couldn't be happier with it. For what I paid, the component build is actually pretty impressive. 👍 As for Fuji, I don't know much about them as a brand specifically... I mean, the bike was manufactured in Taiwan, which is pretty much the case for every other bike on the market these days.

... Fuji is actually a Japanese company that's been cranking out bikes since the late 19th Century. For what you pay, they seem pretty solid, if you ask me...

I’m perfectly satisfied with my bike. Just took it out near Boulder, Colorado, about 28 miles miles from where I am. It was great. Definitely worth the money. Got it back in $1067 May 2009. Solid build quality. Honestly, does it feel like just two or three of us actually own this bike?

So, is it really just two or three of us actually owning this bike????

Nah, I've got one too—but hey, I'm not trying to brag or anything! Mine looks like this:

Reviving this thread—a friend spotted this bike on Joe Rogan for $1000 at a discount. I just can't tell if it's the exact model from the original post or a different year.

Also, looking for feedback on the Tahoe. That suspension fork with the lockout—how does it actually perform? Are the tires too aggressive and sluggish for pavement, and is this thing meant for deep woods or just light rock crawling? The geometry looks pretty low to me.

And if you could share some experience regarding the Tahoe. What is this suspension fork like with its lockout? Are the tires too aggressive and heavy for road riding, and is it actually capable of handling woods or light rock gardens (the profile seems somewhat low to me)?

I have been riding this Tahoe for about six months now. As a beginner, I don't quite know what better looks like yet, so I am quite satisfied for the time being. 🙂
The fork is decent, though I have a feeling that after a while, I might want to upgrade to something higher-end, especially since I tend to ride on rather rough trails. I haven't run into any issues with the brakes or the drivetrain, and the tires seem fine. I've had a couple of flats from thorns, but that’s about it; for the kind of terrain I tackle, they work perfectly. I have heard they aren't the best in mud because they clog up easily, but I personally don't enjoy riding through mud or wet conditions anyway.
The geometry works for me, and for my current needs, it is excellent. 🙂

In my opinion, it is better suited for forest trails and rocks than for pavement; in fact, I barely ride on the road at all. 😉

Check out this muddy beast in the top photo—that's my ride right there. I actually swapped out the stock fork for a Magura Odur 100mm, and I ditched those Continental raca King 2.2 tires for some Ritchey Evolution comp 2.1. Honestly, those Ritcheys have way better grip when things get messy in the woods; the raca King tires that come standard feel more like they belong on a gravel path than in the mud. I also upgraded from the old V-brakes to hydraulic Magura Julia brakes. Overall, though, the bike is solid—well-built and high quality. For around $3 $167 I'd say it’s easily one of the best bang-for-your-buck purchases you can make.

That muddy bike in the top photo is mine. I’ve made a few modifications since I bought it; the fork isn't the stock one that came with the build, but rather a Magura Odur 100mm. As for the tires, I swapped out the Continental raca King 2.2 for some Ritchey Evolution comp 2.1. In my experience, those Ritcheys offer much better grip when you're dealing with muddy terrain. To be honest, the Race King tires that come standard on this bike feel more suited for gravel paths than actual mud. I also took the time to replace the V-brakes with hydraulic Magura Julia brakes. Overall, though, the bike is quite solid. It was assembled well and feels high-quality, especially considering it cost me around $3,000. $167 I honestly believe this might be one of those purchases that actually pays off in the long run.

I find myself wondering about the underlying motivation behind such an upgrade. Why did you choose to go down that particular path? 🙂 Why didn't you just buy a better bike?

I am currently eyeing this one specific fork that I’d love to install, but there's a bit of a dilemma: the price tag on the fork alone is nearly as much as the entire bike. 😁

When I first picked up this bike, my budget was pretty much capped at $1333, which was basically what the whole thing cost back then. At first, I was totally fine with the stock parts, but man, my riding style and how much I wanted to push myself on the trails really grew over time—so naturally, I started hunting down better, higher-end components. I didn't do it all at once, though; I just grabbed stuff piece by piece whenever I had some extra cash lying around. One month I'd grab something small, maybe wait two or three months before the next upgrade, just chipping away at it. Even the crankset is different now—it originally came with a Shimano M442, but I swapped it out for an M 542 (LX range). I actually sold off the old parts to help cover the cost of the new ones, so I really only ended up paying the difference. Right now, I'm eyeing a serious fork upgrade—maybe something from Fox... honestly, those things can cost as much as the entire bike 🙂

When I originally picked up my bike, my budget was strictly $1333, which was pretty much what a bike like that cost back then. Initially, the stock components were perfectly adequate for my needs, but as time went on, my riding style evolved and my appetite for technical trails grew. Naturally, I started looking toward higher-end, more durable parts. I haven't been able to do it all at once, so I just pick up pieces whenever I have some extra cash—maybe a little something this month, then nothing for another two or three months. It’s a slow, gradual process. For instance, I swapped out the mid-range drivetrain, which was a Shimano M442, for an M 542 (LX tier). I actually sold the old parts to offset the cost, so I really only paid the difference for the upgrades. Right now, I'm eyeing a much better fork, perhaps something from Fox... but honestly, a good one costs about as much as the entire bike did 🙂

I'm asking because I've also been dreaming about getting a Fox fork, but for now, it's just wishful thinking🙂
