"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" 😂 haha—honestly, I wouldn't even be surprised if they botched it that badly

They actually got the title right—or at least, that’s how it translates... "Disney's Sorcerer's Apprentice."
At least that's what it says on the AMC website.

I managed to catch a cam rip of the movie, and based on what I saw, it's actually pretty decent. It's a straight-up adventure, fun, hits all the right comedic beats, and I was actually impressed by the special effects.
The OST seems solid, too.

Why would he sleep on him? He just crushed it in Kick-Ass and Bad Lieutenant... now he can take on any role he wants!

What do you mean by bottom-tier? Is it because sci-fi fantasy isn't really his speed?

What an absolute joke of a movie. Honestly, what really gets under my skin is this: imagine you're sitting there writing a script, throwing in some tired cliché about Merlin and Morgana slaughtering each other, giving them apprentices, setting up two rival magic schools—basically good versus evil—and then "bam," you serve up a plotline so incredibly shallow it’s practically non-existent. Then, after a thousand years of nothingness, you deliver a resolution that's basically at a third-grader's level. What I can't wrap my head around is how that writer walked away with a massive paycheck. You've got Cage and Bellucci, who are actually solid actors, surrounded by a bunch of nobodies, and when you crunch the numbers, a production like this isn't cheap. Who is the absolute moron willing to sink serious cash into such a garbage pile of a project just so they can throw some expensive special effects at it? How does anyone come up with these brainless scripts, and where do they get the nerve to try and sell this trash? Seriously, did that screenwriter write this on a napkin for a bag of peanuts? I genuinely want to know who is stupid enough to invest in this, and how any major studio—even one out of India or Turkey—could let themselves be associated with such a total disaster. I don't even have a word for it.

Hollywood is a complete circus. I get it, there are people whose entire job is just reading market trends. They see that some mindless garbage might actually turn a profit, so they find a few idiots to whip up something incredibly simplistic—something so basic that even the most brain-dead viewer can watch it without having to think for a single second. It’s just a group of greedy suits looking for a quick buck, filming this junk, and then raking in the money from the sheep who fall for yet another "teenage-sorcerer-good-vs-evil" trope.

Since when did this become how movies are made, and why does the public keep swallowing this crap? Actually, how much further is this going to go?

Look, you have to realize this is a family movie meant for kids who aren't exactly Nikola Tesla or Albert Einstein.
I went into this with an open mind and actually had some fun at times.
It’s got humor, decent effects, and Cage—even if he is in every third movie this year—actually does a solid job here.
The kid playing the lead was a bit annoying, but overall, it's a decent popcorn flick, mostly for the kids.
Don't go looking for deep logic or high-end quality.
Oh, and Molina is fantastic!
He completely steals every scene.
Just like in Prince of Persia.

That was my mindset going in, and honestly, I actually had a bit of fun at times...
There’s some humor, the special effects hold up, and even though Cage seems to be in every third movie released this year, he really nailed his part.
The kid playing the lead was a bit grating, though... all in all, it's a decent popcorn movie, mostly for the younger crowd.

I completely agree with you.
I honestly can't wrap my head around why they gave Jay Baruchel this role. He's just a disaster... totally irritating. It felt like watching Raymond. It would have been much better if the kid playing Dave at the beginning had just carried the whole movie instead.

I honestly cannot wrap my head around who thought giving a role to Jay Baruchel was a good idea. He’s just a disaster. So incredibly grating—honestly, watching him felt like watching Raymond. It would have been way better if that kid playing Dave as a little boy had just carried the whole movie.

You basically snatched the words right out of my mouth. 😛I was literally about to type that exact thing, but you beat me to the punch.

I finally sat down to watch it today, and honestly, I really enjoyed it. The magic effects are solid, the humor lands well, the story holds up, and the casting is spot on.
Even though a lot of people are claiming this is one of the weaker entries in Cage's filmography, I have to disagree. Personally, I think it’s a huge asset for him to branch out into sci-fi adventures every once in a while.

I caught a screening today, and honestly, what a blast! The visual effects were absolutely stunning, and there was just enough humor sprinkled throughout to keep things light. All in all, it’s one of those perfect little escapes where you can just switch off your brain, lean back, and truly soak in the experience. Definitely give it a watch if you're looking for something fun!

I’ve gotta jump in here too... looks like I'm not the only one noticing this. It's pretty obvious some people are being pushed by certain guys... it's beyond irritating.🙄
