Hey everyone.
I'm 18 and have been with my boyfriend for about a year. We had sex for the first time two months ago—though we'd done digital stuff before that. Ever since that first time, I've been dealing with this awful burning sensation—it’s been going on for two and a half months now, if you can believe it. I'm not sure if it's related to my bladder, because the feeling is honestly pretty similar to when I get a UTI. It isn't constant, though; it mostly happens when I go to the bathroom, and occasionally—though less often—even when I don't have to. My period is regular, at least. But today, I noticed some brownish discharge on my underwear—nothing major, just a little bit. I have no idea if that's connected to the burning or what... any advice on what I should do? I haven't seen a gynecologist yet, so does anyone have a guess as to what this burning might be?
Thanks in advance for any help!!!🙂

Go see an OBGYN. Only a doctor can actually tell you what's going on and prescribe something if you need it—not us random people on a forum.

loneheron9, you probably have some sort of infection or inflammation, and I suppose only a gynecologist can confirm that. It might be worth finding the courage to go see one, as it’s unlikely to resolve on its own.

First off, I gotta give you some credit for that... Two and a half months. That's it. I guess I just take it, you know? Just sit there and soak up whatever bullshit comes my way while everyone else acts like everything is fine. It’s kind of my thing, I suppose—just absorbing the chaos and pretending I don't mind, even when it's driving me absolutely insane. I don't know, man, I’m just sitting here feeling this weird, constant stinging sensation and honestly, it’s driving me up the wall. It’s one of those annoying little irritations that you can’t quite put your finger on, but it’s enough to make me want to lose my mind if I don't figure out what's causing it soon. 😵 And then they have the nerve to tell you to just go see a gynecologist, because honestly, nobody on this forum is going to give you a straight answer about what's actually going on with you—only an actual doctor who can perform a physical exam is going to know for sure.

That stinging sensation is likely a sign of a UTI, which can sometimes be a side effect after having sex for the first time. It happens to plenty of women. Just so you know, don't panic—it’s nothing life-threatening—but you really should see a gynecologist right away. They might want to run a urine culture or some other tests. That kind of stinging can also be caused by E. coli bacteria; it's naturally part of our bodies, but if it moves into the vaginal area, the urethra, or the bladder where it doesn't belong, you'll need antibiotics. If left untreated, things can get complicated, and you could end up dealing with this for years...
I just wanted to use that example to show how important it is to get to a doctor as soon as possible.
In the future, please don't take weird symptoms like stinging lightly. Go straight to a doctor and get everything checked out.
Good luck 🙂

Thanks everyone for all the advice!!
I know you can't possibly know what I'm dealing with—it’s impossible—but I figured maybe someone here had been through something similar and could offer some perspective. Though, I guess I'll probably just have to go see my OB-GYN after all.

@Elizabeth Jackson64/">@@Elizabeth Jackson64, I don't think the stinging is from sex—it actually started before that happened.🙂

Yeah, sounds like an infection for sure... just go see your OB-GYN and you'll be fine. Once you start being on a first-name basis with them, stick to that. Just keep up with the checkups without the stress or the panic. 😉
