My rear rim is pretty trashed. It’s wobbling like crazy—up to 1.5cm off—so I actually had to loosen my rear brakes all the way just so they wouldn't rub every time I ride.🙄
Should I just grab a new rim or a whole new wheel, or is getting it trued even worth it?

Also, how do you get a cassette off? Do I need some specific tool for that?
And if I buy a wheel at a shop, does it come with the hub included (bearings and axle), or what?

Should I just bite the bullet and buy a new rim or wheel, or is it worth getting it trued?

Also, does anyone know how you get a cassette off? Do I need a specific tool for that?
And if I pick up a whole new wheel at a shop like REI, does that come complete with the hub (bearings and axle included), or is it just the wheel itself?

If you go out and grab a completely new wheel, the hub comes built right into it.

You could try to have it trued, but honestly, you should check first to see if one of your spokes has snapped.

You could try truing it, just make sure none of the spokes snapped...

Spokes are fine, everything looks solid. It's just warped from constantly hopping curbs...😢
Look, I wasn't trying to be an idiot, but the price is roughly $50 for the wheel. Does that include the rim and the hub without the cassette?
Not sure if it's smarter to pay for a true or just buy a new one and call it a day...

Also, how do you get the cassettes off? You need a specific tool for that, right? 🤷

Just so I'm clear, I wasn't trying to haggle, but what's the ballpark figure for one of these wheels? Is that roughly $50 per wheel, assuming it includes the rim and hub but doesn't include the cassette?
I'm torn on whether it's smarter to pay someone to true it or if I should just bite the bullet, buy a new one, and call it a day.

Well, I’m heading down to the local bike shop next Thursday; they’ve got the truing stand, the cassette tools, and all the gear. I actually spent some time there today truing up two of my own wheels for free—well, "free" in the sense that I was just paying for my own time.

Until then, you can always spend some time on YouTube watching tutorials on how to true a wheel. Honestly, you don't even really need a dedicated stand; you can actually manage it using just your brake calipers if you're resourceful enough...

For instance.

Man, I keep missing you! It feels like every single time you show up, I'm somewhere else, or at least just not there at the right moment. 🙂 🙂

I actually swung by a little earlier, maybe around 4:30, since I had to be somewhere else by 6:00...
