Why are there three different threads about the veteran registry on the Politics board?!
Isn't the standard move to merge identical topics, even if they have the same title?
All three of these are honestly starting to feel like pure trolling.

And why are threads about the veteran database and stuff like that
being dumped into Politics? What's the actual difference here?

We have two separate threads here: one tackling whether these registries should even be public, and another that popped up yesterday because someone found a "registry" online.

It’s best not to conflate them. As for that third thread Charles Martin2 spotted, it’s already buried in the archives again—someone dug up a two-year-old topic just to ask a rather foolish question.

But more importantly, how should we handle debates like this? Specifically, the questions about publishing files from the FBI, the CIA, or old social security records—and what those documents would actually look like if they were released as standard PDFs.

So, the mod finally weighed in. Honestly, my point was more about how this whole PDF policy is just an absolute goldmine for drama—you could probably spin five different threads with a hundred replies each in under an hour if you tried. 🙂
If the mods want to actually keep up with everything in real time, they really ought to set up a formal shift schedule or something, don't you think?

But what’s the actual difference between
the Veterans Affairs registry and the Published Veterans Affairs registry?
I mean, they’re the same topic, same people, same talk!
Up until now, these kinds of threads always get merged, even when they're different!
Especially if the title mentioned, say, Tudjman!

So if it fits under Veterans Affairs policy,
why shouldn't other registries fit too?

Vito, I appreciate where you're coming from, but honestly, managing the sub-forums is still firmly in the hands of the moderators, so let's leave it at that.
If you ask me, they actually made a solid call here.

steeleagle70, Vito’s got a point—it really doesn't do anyone any favors when users start poking their noses into administrative business.
