Does anyone know of a decent 1440p monitor that stays under about 18.5 inches total height? Honestly, is there even any point in chasing 1440p if you can't get a 27" screen? I'm guessing those standard 27" models won't fit my setup anyway. 🤷

Does that guy make dressers?

Look, I think 24" isn't a bad call for 1440p right now (especially since people are pushing 4K on 15" laptops these days), but if you can swing a 27", that’d be the better move.

Is 19.5 inches really a dealbreaker? How about this one?

Otherwise, your perfect solution is this 25" model—it's IPS and the price is solid. With the stand, the height is barely over 16.5 inches.

EDIT

Or you could just grab something like this with a pivot function and just lower it as far as you need it to go.😁

It won't fit any higher because of how the desk is built—there's a shelf right at that height. If I tried to pull it out past the shelf, it’d basically be hanging off the edge of the desk...

Hmm... I've been eyeing the Dell P2416D, but that BenQ 27" you have looks pretty good too, assuming it actually fits 😬

EDIT: My desk is something like this:

I don't have the exact dimensions handy—since they aren't listed on the official BenQ website—but I'm fairly certain it'll fit if you lower it like this. You probably won't even need to drop it that far, but it’s always better to be 100% sure before you commit. Generally speaking, if you're eyeing a 27" model, having a pivot function is a total game-changer. If not, even a 24" or 25" setup isn't too shabby either.

I’m currently using a Dell U2713HM, which is 27"... it stands about 15 inches tall, and if memory serves, you should be able to drop it right down to the desk surface with the stand.😬
Mine is mounted to the wall at the moment, but looking at the stand I have on hand, it seems like it should be perfectly doable.

Hard to find, even if I could... honestly, I don't think I want to drop that much cash. If it were like 40% cheaper, then maybe we're talking. 🤣 😬

That’s pretty much the standard for any monitor with a pivot function. You can't really have one 27" screen being massive compared to another 27" model—once you account for the bezel thickness, you might see a centimeter or two of difference in the actual footprint depending on the stand design.

Well, it’s pretty much common sense that a 27" monitor stands about 15 inches tall by default 😬, so don't expect anyone to start manufacturing them with some absurdly thin 4-inch bezel just to satisfy a whim, right?
Honestly, your best bet is to just grab whatever model you like that features an adjustable stand—one that actually lets you drop it down to its lowest setting. Then, just tilt it toward your line of sight... unless, of course, you happen to be exceptionally short. 😁

Look, I get what Kimberly Gomez34 is saying, but it’s not like every single pivot mount lets you adjust the height...

😬 I’d happily let you take my Dell off my hands, but honestly, I haven't quite committed to pulling the trigger on "something" else just yet. Is that going to be an issue for you?😉

Haha, nah, I'm in no rush, but I'm just not a fan of buying used electronics. 😬

I haven't come across a single monitor with a pivot feature that didn't allow you to lower the screen. Regardless, that BenQ 27 mentioned in the link definitely allows it; it’s essentially the second most affordable 27" IPS 1440p option out there—which actually makes it the cheapest one available with a pivot.

It’s a bummer that the BenQ 27 isn't in stock at Best Buy, and the other guys won't take my Amex ☕.

Have you checked out Best Buy for that BenQ?
Honestly, that 27'' model mentioned in post #2 is a steal, even if that $2,800 price tag looks a bit wild at first glance.

Yeah, I checked. Best Buy has it out of stock, but Micro Center actually has it in... though they won't take Amex. 👎

Dammit, I didn't even realize this Acer had FreeSync too... 😲

We have a winner! 🙂

From what I can tell, there's no FreeSync support here.

But honestly, for that kind of money, you could easily pick up an ultrawide that actually includes FreeSync.

I think I'm just hallucinating at this point... I've been staring at a dozen different monitors and now my brain is mixing them all up as the "chosen one." 😵 😬

Dammit, I want 1440p, then it’s gotta be IPS, then I need FreeSync, plus it has to stay under 19 inches... by the time I'm done, I'm looking at $500$1.75 for a setup like 😁
.
I'll just wait a year or two🕺.

If you could snag all those specs—1440p, 27", IPS, G-Sync, and a pivot stand—for under $300, you'd be looking at an absolute steal. It’s funny because just about six months ago, monitors with those exact features were retailing for around $350-$$1067 (I think they were some Acer models). You just have to be patient; a deal like that is bound to pop up eventually.
