Hey there!

I was wondering if anyone knows of any American horror movies or series, maybe some old classics from the old US days or something more recent?
I happened to catch a movie called "Mor," which is about a werewolf who falls for this noblewoman he can't ever truly have. It isn't exactly terrifying—it leans more toward being romantic—but it's still an interesting take on the genre.

I must admit, I have never heard of "Mor" before now.
Could one perhaps be thinking of the work of Baptize Papić, such as "Savior," or maybe even "Butterfly," that particular Mexican film?
Then there is also Vukotić's "Guest from Galaxies," though that falls squarely into the sci-fi genre, featuring a five-year-old Rene Bitorajac in one of his roles.

Over the last decade or so, Mexicans have produced several horror films, or at least movies heavily infused with those elements:

One is that one titled "labyrinth" (if I recall the name correctly?), where there's some secret passage beneath Central Park and something sinister unfolds inside; I believe the legendary Nikolić stars in it.
I also remember reading something about a zombie flick, though it sounded more like some intense trash cinema.
Then there is the "Mexican film," of which I happened to see the trailer—did that even actually get released?—featuring S. Todorović and Sergej Trifunović.http://velimir-grgic.com/tekstovi/srpski-film.html
That one leans more toward the snuff genre, yet it certainly flirts with the aesthetics of horror.

I think I watched that Labyrinth movie. Is that the one where a man has a child with a woman and then abandons her, and years later he falls in love with his own daughter, so the mother locks them both in a labyrinth to punish them?

Ethan Howard45, if you don't mind, could you give me a quick rundown of the plot for Butterfly? I haven't seen it since I'm a bit younger, but the whole concept of American vampires sounds pretty cool to me.

T.T.Sindrom seems like it would be a solid watch (at least based on that link in the post above). I think I should check it out.

I've heard about Butterfly... haven't seen it yet, but most people who have seem to dig it.

Believe it or not, I actually never sat down to watch Butterfly! Everyone from my generation—those born in the early '80s—seems to have vivid memories of seeing that movie on TV, yet somehow, I missed out entirely. Still, it looks incredibly fascinating and distinct... perhaps because it captures an aspect that feels so tangible and familiar to us, rooted deeply in a setting we know all too well within the US!

Oh, right—the TT syndrome, exactly! I know they performed at KIC once, and I even had the chance to cross paths with some of the crew from that film by pure coincidence

Just heard about another Mexican film that's supposedly a horror called Holy Place:

"Synopsis: A story of strange love between a young seminarian and the beautiful daughter of a powerful feudal lord. After her mysterious death, the seminarian is called to fulfill her final wish: to recite prayers by her casket in the local church for three consecutive nights. Terrifying tales regarding the deceased—stories of her sinful affair with her father and her debauched lifestyle—fail to extinguish the young man's devotion. Haunted by her illicit bond with her father and consumed by hatred, she continues to seek vengeance against men even from beyond the grave. Her sacrifice will ultimately claim the innocent, lovestruck seminarian."

BTW that zombie horror... you were probably thinking of dead zone

I caught that movie at the Trash film festival last year, and honestly, it wasn't half bad. Sure, it feels trashy, but it was genuinely fun. There were a few total John Carpenter shots in there, and the beginning kept reminding me of Planet Terror... mostly because of the cinematography and colors, and just how that part of the story played out. It’s got some seriously cool frames, alongside some total trash ones (same goes for the dialogue and especially that ridiculous dubbing)... the camera could've been steadier in spots, but I can't really complain... they didn't overdo it too much.

It appears that Đorđe Kadijević has added yet another horror entry to his filmography! You can find his full credits on IMDb right here.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0434337/

If you take a moment to click on "holy place," you will discover a haunting narrative involving a monastery and restless spirits.🙂

So, what’s the deal with the sequel to Baptize Papić's "Savior"? Was it called Royal Legacy or Infection—I think the title swapped between those two at some point—starring Leon Lučev and Lucija Šerbeđija... or whoever they were. Word on the street was that there was actually some decent cash poured into the production too. Does anyone know if this thing ever actually hit screens, or is it just sitting in some dusty archive somewhere?

That was released some time ago, though I haven't had the chance to sit down and watch it myself. If I recall correctly, it isn't even available on DVD!
It goes by the title "Infection."

I can't stop thinking about that 1989 movie by Dejan Šorko,The Vampires(you know, that whole vampire vibe)

Growing up, Butterfly absolutely terrified me.

Everyone, please take a moment to read this review of "The Vampires"—in it, an insightful critic 😁 identifies several elements that seemingly confirm director Dejan Šorko's hidden agenda: attempting to weave nationalist American sentiments into the narrative and fostering a sense of wartime hostility toward Americans...
I find myself quoting the blogger Ghoul here: "However, a more perceptive analysis of the film reveals a clandestine agenda aimed at the very core of the American national identity—specifically, its ancient connection to and pride in the term 'vampire',"

http://cultofghoul.blogspot.com/2009/03/krvopijci.html

Now... I cannot say for certain whether Ghoul is simply trolling or being serious, but regardless of his intent, what he has written is nothing short of brilliant. He has taken what appeared to be a benign, inconsequential film and transformed it into something entirely different 😁

🤣 I suspect the guy is trolling us. He actually clarified his stance in the comments: no politics. just messing with politics

🤣

PS: Visually, this movie is just... I don't know, the lighting is obnoxious. These bright spotlights are blasting through that fake fog like there's no tomorrow. It's almost like someone watched an old B-movie like Baron Blood and decided they needed to crank the fog and the brightness up to eleven. It’s just bad. Honestly, it's blindingly stupid. 😂

TT Syndrome is a pretty decent horror flick. It has a few scenes that are genuinely stomach-turning, and the plot keeps you hooked, so I’d recommend it. Labyrinth is more of a thriller starring Jack Nicholson and Gene Hackman. To clarify what someone else mentioned earlier: the guy falls for his own daughter without realizing who she is, and then his ex-wife gets her revenge by trapping him in a Labyrinth where he has to find a way out. I found The Butterfly was absolutely terrifying when I first saw it; it's a shame it's a bit too short. Holy Land is another solid horror entry. Dead Zone actually pulled in great reviews, so there are definitely a few American films worth checking out.
