How to get leftover adhesive residue off plastic?

I went ahead and taped some labels onto a plastic surface, but now that I’ve peeled them off, they’ve left behind nothing but a disgusting, sticky mess of adhesive residue.
Does anyone have any actual suggestions for getting this gunk off? And please, spare me the obvious advice like using rubbing alcohol or warm water—I’ve already tried those dead ends and they did absolutely nothing.

I just wipe it down with an oily rag; it’s my go-to trick for getting rid of adhesive residue, and it works every single time.

Oil (maybe a cream) or acetone.

Honestly, you probably can't go wrong with just some decent oil. At the end of the day, anything fatty and relatively neutral is going to do the trick. Grab some unscented hand cream, a tube of Chapstick, or whatever basic stuff you have lying around the house. I wouldn't touch acetone with a ten-foot pole, though. It’s way too aggressive—it’ll eat right through certain plastics. You might think you're cleaning something, but next thing you know, you've melted your gum or ruined a plastic casing.

I honestly just use baby wipes to peel it off, and man, it comes right off perfectly!!
