AM4 socket plastic issue - Help!

So, I was putting together a PC recently and picked up a used motherboard. It came with its own cooler, but I already have my own setup I want to use—specifically an ml240l. The problem is, I'm missing the mounting bracket that originally comes with the board. I can't find it anywhere locally, and the only option seems to be hunting through eBay. Does anyone know if there's a way to just buy this part here in the States?

Maybe you could track down a broken AM4 motherboard somewhere just to harvest the plastic shrouds if they’re standard... local repair shops might have some lying around

Doesn't that cooler also come with a mounting kit for screwing it directly into the backplate?

So, I checked in with a couple of repair shops. In one of them, the tech told me straight up, just Intel hahaha

It doesn't just have the top side with those two little holes that catch onto the middle clips to tighten things up. For Intel, you get the entire assembly including the backplate. -.-

So, there’s this option available and I’m curious to get your take on it. I want to see if my logic holds up. My motherboard has mounting holes for both AM3 and AM4 brackets. From what I’ve gathered, the AM2 and AM3 brackets are actually identical, and I actually found a guy nearby who was selling an AM2 kit complete with the backplate

Also, looking at the cooler itself, that part seems compatible with all the AM series sockets. In theory, should this work? 🤔

Technically speaking, the holes would line up, but here’s the real kicker: do you actually have an AM3 backplate on your current motherboard? If you do, you might be able to just swap in those AM2 plastic spacers, but if you have to rip the existing backplate off your board to make room for a new one, aren't you worried about accidentally touching something sensitive?

Honestly, at that price point, you might as well just buy a dead motherboard.

If you happen to be in the Washington, D.C. area, I actually have both the bracket and the backplate for AM2 sitting around. It would be a shame to let them just go to waste.

Exactly. If you're working with that specific rog-ica, it actually offers a brilliant workaround by including mounting holes for both AM4 and the older AM2/AM3 sockets.
