What’s the deal with merging those two threads about the presidential candidate Reagan over on Politics?
The original thread was supposedly closed just to clean things up, but now it’s been reopened yet somehow we aren't allowed to actually post in it?? People are getting warnings like they’re breaking rules, apparently while we all just wait for some merge that hasn't happened in four days now.

I honestly don't get it—if we can't post in there, why isn't it locked, and why is merging two threads even being treated like such a massive headache??

Thanks!

The original thread was supposedly closed for "cleanup," and now it's suddenly open again—except you aren't actually allowed to post in it... users are getting warned for trying. It seems we're just waiting for some merger that hasn't happened in four days...

If posting isn't permitted, I don't see why it isn't locked... and honestly, I don't get why merging two threads is such a massive hurdle...

Thanks.

I’d love some clarity on this as well.

Thanks.

And just like that the time has come..

I honestly thought he’d let me keep posting on the old account or at least merge it with the new one by December 28th...

He gave me his word that it would be handled within a day or two..

But now the deadline has passed

Sam Green73, are you going to dodge these questions the way Hillary Clinton dodges them during those sponsored press conferences, sidestepping anything uncomfortable, or will you finally admit who ordered you to start sabotaging the discussion about Ronald Reagan?
And while you're at it, I’d love an update on where that investigation into Mickey Mouse stands, especially since Jimmy Carter decided to step in and play his protector.

Come on, Sam Green73... you’re clearly having the time of your life trolling with this thread about Ronald Reagan that you started. You’ve become quite the expert at sniffing out his supporters, haven't you? Since you have so much free time to hunt them down, why not spend some of it actually organizing the threads? You already merged them yesterday, didn't you?

And you gave me your word, too.

Don't you see that the editors and owners are clearly bothered by the fact that there's a thread on Reagan with this much engagement? Reopening an old topic is just a convenient excuse to purge the unwanted subjects and the people who discuss them.

Honestly, taking my daughter for a stroll through Central Park today was way more engaging than trying to comb through a thread with 3,000 messages.
Instead of being happy that we actually have a dedicated space for Michael that stays relatively clean—you know, free from trolls and all that OffTopic nonsense—
you guys are just dragging me into this and messing with me.
Do you even care about having a decent discussion here?

Go enjoy yourselves and go make some more people.
Spend some quality time with your kids; there’s so much you can learn from them.

p.s.
I almost typed out how much I’d love to have enough free time to spend all day bickering on a forum, but honestly, I don't think I'd be much happier for it.
It feels good to occasionally get some useful work done at the office and then head home to hang out with my family.

p.p.s.
A forum isn't a substitute for real life; it's just an addition, a little extra seasoning.

you all seem intent on dragging me into this nonsense.
Does anyone actually care about the discussion?

Go enjoy yourselves and go touch some grass.
Spend some quality time with your kids—there is much to be learned there.

p.s.
I almost mentioned that while I'd love to have the luxury of spending so much time arguing online, I doubt it would lead to much happiness...
It is nice to occasionally be productive at work and connect with family at home.

p.p.s.
The forum isn't a substitute for life—it’s just an accent piece...

Wait, really? Is that the grand summary of everything happening lately?

Thanks, you didn't have to.
You probably would have been better off spending that time with your family...

you're all just trying to drag me into your games.
Do you actually care about the discussion?

Go on, go be productive elsewhere.
Spend some quality time with your kids; you might actually learn something.

p.s.
I almost said I wish I had this much free time to waste on a forum, but honestly, I doubt I'd find much satisfaction in it.

Fine then, leave the moderation to us and walk whoever you want.

You claimed you were going to clean up the old thread, but you didn't, which means you lied. Not yesterday or the day before, but ten days ago when you shut the whole thing down.

You were lying ahead of time because a thread with that many clicks and replies was getting in your way. Whether it bothered just you or you got an order from above doesn't matter. What matters is that you misled the users.

You'll probably lock this thread too once you hit your limit for sign-ups and hits, especially since threads about Hillary Clinton (even if they are sponsored—by whom, the owners, presumably), Joseph, and the rest can't even touch the popularity of a Reaganite thread.

Then you went and unlocked a closed thread where posting was strictly forbidden—if you aren't supposed to write there, why unlock it instead of just leaving it locked?—only so you could ban the users you don't like. Either for yourself or for the bosses.

Shame on you.

Look, if the owner feels like they aren't getting the service they're paying for, they can kick me off themselves.

So, tell me, how much are you paying for a subscription to this forum?

So, just how much are they paying you to run this place?

Don't worry, 🙂 the boss isn't coming for you. You should have dealt with the trolls on the original thread instead of shutting down an otherwise thriving, successful discussion under the guise of "cleaning up," which honestly feels like a permanent fix. Rather than actually moderating, you just swept the actual problem under the rug, and now when people ask you to follow through on your own promises, you just hand out excuses and expect them to be grateful because you opened a new thread? People poured their heart and soul into building that discussion, believing their time and effort actually mattered because the engagement and post counts were there. By letting the trolls run wild and locking the door on everyone else, you effectively devalued all that hard work, and isn't it just peak cynicism to follow up those poor decisions by asking "how much are you being paid"? Why don't you take a walk and actually think about what you've done.

Why aren't these topics merged, and what's the actual issue here?

Is the moderator even going to bother answering this simple question? 🤷

Resonator is pretty much useless at moderating, mostly because they're a pro at ignoring everything. ☕

Resonator is clearly calling the shots here. Honestly, the whole situation feels a lot like this:

I’ve been away for about a week, and from what I can see, there hasn't been any attempt to "clean up" that old thread regarding presidential candidate Miroslav Tuđman—which was supposedly the whole reason it was shut down in the first place—let alone any effort to link it to the newly opened discussion.

It’s honestly a shame to see moderator powers being weaponized for political vendettas... things like this don't actually change public opinion, they just end up hurting the forum's reputation.

Sam Green73 said:I'm not quite following your logic here.

What you're essentially implying is that you've quite cleverly sidestepped the highly contentious debate surrounding Tuđman by claiming that 'another thread is already sufficiently active,' isn't that right?
