Having trouble connecting to 000webhost via FTP?

I’ve finally started building my very first website, following the guide found at this link.
Everything seemed to be moving along smoothly until I fired up FileZilla. I entered all my credentials for my hosting account (hosted via Bluehost) exactly as instructed. But once I hit connect, I just get this:

Connection established, waiting for welcome message.
Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.

530 Login authentication failed
Critical error: Could not connect to server

Could someone please help me out? I honestly have no idea what I'm doing wrong here.

You really need to check with the hosting provider you're using. Based on this log, it looks like you just typed the wrong username or password, even if you're sure they're correct.
Basically, the username seems fine, but the password isn't hitting the mark.

Someone's making a mistake here.

Honestly, FileZilla is driving me up the wall. I know my username and password are right because I can log in through my browser without a single hiccup.
I just tried connecting to http://pape.freetzi.com and this is what I'm getting:

Status: Resolving address of pape.freetzi.com
Status: Connecting to 5.9.82.18:990...
Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...

From the look of things, that server isn't accepting any FTP connections.
Either you've got the wrong hostname typed in—you should probably double-check the instructions from your hosting provider—or the host doesn't even support connecting via File Transfer Protocol...

I find it hard to believe they don't support FTP. When I try logging into my account through the browser, I see this message:

FTP server (host): pape.freetzi.com
FTP username: pape.freetzi.com
FTP password: same as my account password
Web-FTP: http://pape.freetzi.com/fto/

Looks like you're trying to hit port 990, which means you're aiming for FTP over TLS/SSL.
The server might not actually support encryption...
Try turning the encryption off and see if that works.

Yeah, that's definitely what's happening.

How do I turn this encryption off? It's getting in my way.
I can't seem to find the setting in FileZilla.
There’s just this dropdown menu with four different options, and I’m supposed to pick one.
I've tried every single one of them, but nothing works.

So, what kind of options are you looking at?

1. Opt for explicit FTP over TLS whenever you have the choice
2. Mandate explicit FTP over TLS
3. Mandate implicit FTP over TLS
4. Stick to plain FTP (completely unsecure)

Set this to 4. And make sure you manually switch the port back to 21 if the software didn't do it for you automatically...

Try leaving out the "http"—that’s actually a protocol designation, whereas you're trying to hit a server that uses File Transfer Protocol.

You almost certainly received some sort of confirmation or welcome email when you set up the account—it should specify exactly which host address you need to use.
