Sons of a Thousand fathers + Marshmallows @Beach Boys, 11/21

I’m just going to be shamelessly persistent about this.

Of course everything has to happen on the one Saturday when I'm completely unavailable 😢

Solid concert. Like, actually really good.

Sons of Anarchy totally threw me off with that Beck cover. I was singing along to the whole damn thing without even realizing who it was by. I kept asking everyone around me, but no one knew anything. It finally clicked right at the end, so I just started yelling "Beck! Beck!" and throwing my hands up. 🙂

It’s kind of messed up, honestly—we all listen to way too much music.

Marshmallows were more than alright. Matthew is a bit hard to understand sometimes, which was kind of annoying during certain parts. But man, the whiskey guy is a total legend. If I were a dude, I’d marry Vatroslava in a heartbeat. I even dug their new tracks, even though I hadn't heard them before, and I guess that’s like the biggest compliment I could ever give someone. Those songs just totally sucked me in, man.

Still, they need to practice a bit more. You know, the singing part. 😳

But seriously, it was such a vibe. I could go listen to them every week (I almost wrote "every day," but let's be real, that's an exaggeration—no band is worth listening to every single day, nobody could handle that)...

Anyway, seriously though, why wouldn't Spunk just ditch Kiza and bring Matthew on instead? 🤷

Sons of Anarchy was pretty rough for me. There were moments where the noise was actually painful... I just kept telling myself it would be over soon. Luckily, it did, so it wasn't a total disaster.

I really loved Marshmallows. The vocals reminded me a bit of Neutral Milk Hotel, and for some reason, the whole vibe gave me Radical face vibes too. At first, it felt a little unfinished, like I was waiting for a payoff that never quite arrived, but that feeling faded as I listened. I didn't catch all the lyrics, but I liked what I heard enough to want to track down a copy. The links to those tracks on the blog aren't working for me. 🤷
