I’ll admit there are a few things about Hold Your Colour that I actually dig, but I just can't wrap my head around this new album; it simply misses the mark for me, primarily because of how they keep trying to mash different genres together. Either they commit to making killer electronic music or they should just pack it in and stop trying 🤷

To feels more like emo-core to me. I remember going through a phase where I used to listen to Propan Nightmares quite a bit, but honestly, I just can't get past his vocals. It feels like they’d actually sound way better if they didn't have a vocalist at all. 🤷

Whatever, man. They just decided to chase the paycheck, and there you have it—commercial pop-breakbeat mixed with some light guitar scratching equals big bucks. It's a damn shame, really—they actually had some killer stuff going when they first started releasing music.

Exactly. Every other band out there plays strictly for their own artistic integrity. They wouldn't touch a commercial gig for all the money in the world. Everyone in the group is a pure artist at heart—total sensitive souls. 🙄

these guys are solid. heard about them about a year ago and gave them a quick listen... kinda reminds me of The Prodigy

Anyway, regarding Hold Your Colour: Slam and Fasten Your Seatbelt. I haven't really listened to them before. Their live shows are just total garbage to me.

The Prodigy is top tier, honestly... maybe some Pendulum would hit better though. I mean, there are like a million cheap imitations out there trying to sound like them... they have maybe two or three actual bangers, the rest is just filler...

Funny, nobody even brought up Prodigy. It’s always the same story—if someone produces a similar sound, everyone immediately starts screaming "copycat." To me, Prodigy just sounds harder, more unhinged. These guys in Pendulum feel more like they’re riding a massive swell at Huntington Beach. I don't know, maybe it's just me.
It’s the same logic as comparing Godsmack to Alice in Chains. They aren't even in the same ballpark. Layne Staley had that voice that hits you right in the chest, whereas Sully sings like he’s trying to get a crowd hyped enough to smash their kitchen plates in a rage.

Here’s what I’m thinking—looking at the HD feed, there's definitely more to this than meets the eye. It feels like a lot to take in alone, so maybe the rest of the group should weigh in and fill in the gaps.

If you’re more into that atmospheric side of Drum and Bass, you really need to dive into High Contrast, Alix Perez, Makoto, Cyantific, Klute, Teebee, or Calix... and honestly, don't sleep on the old-school legends either—think Bukem, Bad Company, EZ Rollers, Doc Scott, Fabio & Grooverider, Adam F, or Ed Rush & Optical.
