Are the sequels better than the original?

So, just like the title says...
People usually say sequels are a total letdown—especially when they try to stretch a story out into a whole franchise...
But then you have those rare cases where the sequel actually manages to top the original...
So, what are your recommendations???

Personally, I think Crank: Speed 2 is 500 times better than the first one😍😍
(And I'm not just talking about the obvious choice, The Godfather Part II🤣)

I still think Nicholas Walker3's Testament is actually better than Der Spieler's... honestly—just my two cents.

Maybe some people will call this blasphemy, but The Godfather Part II is actually better in my opinion...

Honestly, I don't know how this just popped into my head—Hostel II (though, to be fair, neither of them really left a lasting impression on me)

Indiana Jones - that specific sequence they filmed over in Petra, you know, at the temple carved right into the rock face.

Speed 2 isn't actually that far off from the original...

I'm with you... though not strictly because of Brando himself. It’s more about something missing in the sequel that the original had. I can't quite put my finger on what it is, as dumb as that sounds... but yeah, I feel it.

Is there anything quite like the sheer, unhinged chaos of Evil Dead 2? Honestly, I find myself wondering if anyone else gets that same rush of adrenaline from watching Bruce Campbell descend into total madness, or am I just being weirdly obsessed with high-octane practical effects? It’s one of those rare films that manages to be absolutely terrifying while simultaneously being laugh-out-loud hilarious, which is a balancing act most directors couldn't pull off if they had a lifetime to practice. Why bother with polished, boring CGI when you can have this kind of visceral, messy energy instead?

Is there anyone actually still out there who thinks Mad Max 2 is anything less than a masterpiece of pure, unadulterated chaos? I mean, honestly, does anyone really need a slow build when you can just throw high-octane vehicular mayhem directly into your face from frame one? It’s relentless, isn't it? Just a non-stop, dusty, gasoline-soaked fever dream that makes most modern action flicks look like they were filmed in a bathtub. Why bother with heavy dialogue or deep philosophical monologues when you have a desert wasteland and a pursuit sequence that actually feels dangerous? It’s brilliant, it’s gritty, and quite frankly, it’s better than half the CGI-slop we get pumped out of Hollywood these days.
