What is Androcur 50mg used for?

I’ve been scouring every corner of the internet, digging through forums and medical sites, but I honestly can't find a single shred of useful information regarding this medication... 😲 😕

Is anyone here actually using it? And if you are, what kind of results are you seeing?

The active ingredient in Androcur is cyproterone acetate. It’s used to treat various health issues caused by elevated male hormone levels, such as acne, hair loss, unwanted hair growth, or PCOS. It’s quite similar to Diane 35, except that one combines cyproterone with ethinyl estradiol, whereas Androcur is pure cyproterone acetate.

Cyproterone acetate is an antiandrogen used specifically to treat prostate cancer. It works by competing for the exact same receptors as testosterone, effectively blocking its impact. It also has progestogenic effects. Since prostate cancer is driven by testosterone—at least in the early stages—this treatment is typically reserved for metastatic cases, whereas earlier stages are usually managed with other methods. You'll most often see this drug paired with LHRH agonists.☕

It’s also used alongside estrogen during gender affirmation processes to help block testosterone production.

Does anyone actually know how well Androcur works for hair loss in women? Like, how long do you have to deal with it before things actually start looking better?

I need to take this alongside Diane, who's 35, but the whole setup feels a bit off to me. Using both Androcur and Diane at the same time just seems weird.

Androcur should be used strictly and exclusively in conjunction with Diane because if there were any possibility of pregnancy, it could lead to severe fetal anomalies
