I'm using Microsoft Word 2007 and I need to run a spell check. I have both American and English installed in my language list, and I've set the document to be treated as American, but whenever I hit the spell check button, it just says "spelling and grammar check complete" without actually doing anything.
I can even make a dummy document filled with gibberish like "asdfghjkl qwertyuiop" and if I trigger the check, it tells me it's finished without finding a single error.
However, if I tell the software to treat the text as English, the check works perfectly fine.
Does anyone know what's going wrong here?
I've been scouring the web for an American language pack, but I can't find one anywhere.
For instance, right here:
https://support.office.com/en-us/art...ID=HA001113350
American isn't even showing up on the list,
and I can't find the specific proofing tools; all I see are various Service Packs for proofing.
Help!
