So, I went in for my hormone panel on day three of my cycle, and my FSH levels are absolutely through the roof. Like, anything up to 13 is supposed to be normal, but mine hit 87.7. Total nightmare. I had to go back in today because they need to redo the test on day three again—looks like I won't have the final results until next week.
I’m wondering if anyone else here has dealt with sky-high numbers like this? And honestly, how do you even fix it? Are there actual medications or something that actually works... or what kind of fallout am I looking at with levels that high?

My take is that it means there's a primary issue with the ovaries themselves. That's where the problem lies. I read somewhere that once.
Not sure about the long-term effects.

My labs should be back this Wednesday, so then I'll finally know if it’s just some massive error in the results like my doctor thinks, or if my ovaries have actually officially checked out and gone into a coma...😢

Why even bother testing your hormones? With FSH levels that high, you aren't getting pregnant. If you check your lab results against the standard range, it’s obvious that high FSH means menopause is kicking in. Is your estradiol still within the normal range? It’s totally standard—for tons of women, ovulation stops happening every single month once they hit their mid-30s (or even earlier).
And look, if you redo your labs and the numbers aren't that crazy next time, it doesn't mean the first test was wrong... that's just how hormones work.

My doctor told me I needed to get some testing done because of issues with implantation, and when he saw the results, he basically said it had to be a mistake—which was exactly what I thought the second I looked at my numbers. I’m waiting on the final lab report to come back in a few days, so then we'll see. My estradiol levels look fine. It's just the FSH that's spiked; everything else, including my thyroid hormones, is totally normal. And the thing is, I definitely ovulate. I can tell myself, and my OBGYN sees it clearly on the ultrasound, so I'm honestly just sitting here completely baffled...😢

I honestly don't even know what to say besides wishing you the best of luck! I'm rooting for that FSH to drop below 10 so you can finally settle down and get hitched. 🙂
Let me know how those new test results turn out.

this feels like my menopause hitting early

so, how are your other hormone levels looking?

you sure they didn't mess up the sample at the lab?

I mean, you could probably hack it with estrogens for a bit—but honestly? Even then, they aren't exactly a magic fix

My other hormone levels came back totally normal. Even my doctor was like, "Eh, maybe the lab just messed up the sample." So that's why I went ahead and had them retested.

So, I went in to get my lab results today, and wouldn't you know it—there was a total screw-up at the lab. My FSH came back at 7.2, which is technically within the normal range, but honestly? I’ve lost my mind and been a complete wreck over this. Just beautiful. It feels like these mistakes are happening more and more often lately... and when you actually ask them how they managed to mess up, they don't have a single damn answer for you.👎

Man, you really had me worried there with those FSH levels...

Thank God everything turned out fine 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Honestly, if the results are that wonky, they really should just run the tests again 👎 👎

It’s the same story with my sister—she was checking her thyroid hormones during pregnancy, and her T4 came back through the roof while her TSH looked totally fine. She panicked, obviously, and rushed to a private endocrinologist, only for him to tell her that with a T4 that high, there's no way that TSH stays normal. Apparently, she's just one of countless people getting those exact same weird readings from that same lab 👎 👎

Thank God, honestly. I’ve been busting my tail over this for nothing... just total wasted effort. It’s insane how many mistakes they make without us even realizing it... absolutely pathetic!
