*Tomorrow in a Year* is actually an opera they co-created with a Japanese choreographer... and since the production is currently touring, the closest show to us would be in Chicago. I think there might be some Danes involved in the project too, though I can't say for sure.
Personally, I highly doubt we'll see a new album before 2012. If you consider it, the Fever Ray album is basically a fourth studio record because Olof is constantly contributing vocals.
As for the first post, when The Knife went on tour back in 2006, it was easily one of the fastest sell-outs in history. 😁

That opera premiered back in September or something. I just hope they actually release that masterpiece so we can finally see it. 😁

The Knife opera "Tomorrow in a Year" is finally available to stream online over at http://theknife.net/...

I haven't actually sat down to listen to the whole thing yet so I can't really give a full review or anything... I just hit play a few minutes ago and all I'm hearing right now are these weird little droplet sounds... My cat is going absolutely nuts though, trying to crawl inside the speaker because she thinks there's something in there or something... 🤣

Man, I don't know if I'm even ready to process this one... avant-garde opera. Ugh. It's definitely not for everyone, honestly quite a heavy listen. But it isn't just one repetitive thing; it actually shifts around. I finally hit track 07- Variation of birds and it kicked off as pure noise, almost like some Merzbow set. I was seriously about to turn it off, but then something incredible started happening. I can't even put it into words. You guys just have to hear it. 07. Variation of birds. wow!

Most of it is just super, super, super experimental. It hits those atonal spots, and sometimes it doesn't even feel like music, just raw soundscapes. I'm gonna keep digging through it, and if I stumble onto anything else amazing, I'll drop an edit. I can't help myself when I get like this, I just have to write down whatever pops into my head right away. :P

Oh, and CD2 is a totally different vibe. These are my favorites:
03. Colouring of Pigeons - probably the most "normal" track on the whole album. It actually features vocals from Karin Dreijer, unlike the rest. It sounds pretty Knife-asto. I really dig it, it's good.
04. Seeds - this reminds me of the intro to like a Pen. I love it. There are some really interesting vocal arrangements going on here.

06. The Height of Summer is basically built on Heartbeats, and I won't hear otherwise.

The second disc is definitely way more alive and rhythmic than the first. The first one is a grind and demands a lot of patience, but if you're a fan of The Knife and you're looking for a new The Knife album, then CD2 is absolutely the one for you. 🙂 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

My bad, John Fisher4, for being such a skeptic, but it turns out those rumors were actually spot on... I only realized a week ago that the opera was genuinely getting a release.
I'm listening to the intro right now and those sounds are hitting just right... I've got high hopes for something massive here.😁

So, I was scrolling through Pitchfork earlier and saw they mentioned a new album is dropping this year. Does anyone actually know if there's any truth to that, or is it just more internet rumors floating around?
