Elizabeth Davis said:Look, I already told you guys that I can't even begin to relax unless I'm on the pill... and yeah, maybe I messed up and had unprotected sex once or twice, but honestly, that was only because there was some incredibly, ridiculously, absolutely massive reason for it... plus, back then I was just this hopelessly, crazily in love kid, so... I'm not exactly much older now, but I am certainly a lot smarter when it comes to this stuff... πŸ™„

With all the diseases out there, you shouldn't be letting your guard down even if you are on the pill.

I feel like there’s definitely something going on here. It’s just hard to pinpoint the exact culprit sometimes. I’ve been on birth control for seven years now and my drive has absolutely tanked, pretty much starting after that first year... but then again, it could have also been the depression that started hitting me right around that same time. Or maybe the depression was actually a side effect of the pill? Or maybe not? Honestly, I have no clue. Over the years, I just kind of fell out of love with my boyfriend at the time and the whole relationship just crumbled. That probably didn't help with the low libido or the depression either, because being stuck in a relationship with someone you aren't even attracted to anymore is such a heavy thing to deal with... Now that I'm single again, I have this feeling that I'm a little less depressed than I was before. This summer I went three months without any hormonal BC and OH MY GOD, let's just say I felt like I was chasing πŸ˜‚ I really think the pills are playing a role in my libido, but they aren't necessarily the only factor... I suspect depression plays a huge part too, if it's in the picture.

Dan! It’s been ages since you last posted in this thread...
Quick question. My libido completely tanked while I was on the pill, so I quit about two weeks ago and I'm already feeling a difference. Now, since I'm married and have two beautiful kids, I'm definitely not looking to expand the family anytime soon ☺ so I'm thinking about getting an IUD. Does anyone actually know how they work, or have any experience with them? Obviously, I'll be talking everything through with my OB-GYN, but I'd love to hear what you guys have dealt with first...
Is it possible to lose your sex drive while using an IUD too? I’d probably go with Mirena, assuming my doctor gives me the green light!
