So, let's say I'm running Warcraft 3 with the new patch—I set it to Samsung full HD and it stretches across the whole screen. Same thing with F1, and Crysis 2 too... But my buddy's got this TV at his place, a Samsung full HD setup, and even when I set the game to full HD, it still looks like crap. Is that just how it works, or what?...

I'll attach two screenshots so you can see the mess for yourself. My buddy thinks it might be some weird American widescreen thing...

That’s weird... did you actually install the monitor drivers yet?

Check this out—I can't even get this page to load right now: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1764412929

Yeah, they're saying they can't download anything 🙂 I don't get it—is everything working fine on your end? It’s totally fine on my desktop... Maybe I need to tweak some settings in the AMD software or something? I'm running a Sapphire 3870... single slot...

What exactly isn't loading? 😵 Everything is running perfectly fine on my end—I can even stretch that old Diablo build until it practically screams. I don't know much about AMD, though, since I'm running Nvidia. Is there anything useful being said over in that World of Warcraft thread? And regarding the TV situation—honestly, most TVs actually have lower resolutions than monitors; plenty of 40" screens and up support 1920*1080 natively.

As for the PC monitor driver, let me just tell you what I'm seeing in the AMD software—honestly, there's not much to say...

So, are you telling me the monitor isn't even showing up right in your Display properties? Like, what exactly is the error message saying—that it can't load the driver or something—and at what point does everything just freeze up on you?

So, here’s how I finally sorted it out:

1. Set up the monitor yesterday—hooked it up to my PC running Windows 7, set everything to auto, and let it default to full HD resolution.
2. Fired up Warcraft 3, F1, and Crysis 2... they run at full HD, but the image is all cut off on the side.
3. Tried installing the drivers today, but when I open the control panel, it says it's not compatible.
4. Fine, just uninstalled it...
5. Went into the AMD software under this section: HDTV support, messed around with a few settings, and eventually found this:
6. Scaling options, which gave me this:

Couldn't get it right until I tweaked things at step 5—set it to 0, and now both the desktop and my games look fine. It was centered before, which is why it was acting up...🙂

Alright, fair enough—if underscaling was turned on, then it’s pretty obvious why the image wasn't filling up the whole screen. And as for the monitor settings, if you're banking on > to fix that... yeah, forget about it. It doesn't handle things like that on version 7. You'll just have to dive into the monitor's actual OSD menu and tweak everything there manually.

Yeah, that was definitely it—not to mention those old AMD cards 😁 always seemed to give you nothing but headaches... 🙂

BX2331 23'' LED is it actually worth picking up this monitor at the price of $0.38? My primary needs are really just some casual web browsing, catching movies, and getting through my daily office tasks... I have absolutely zero interest in gaming or anything intensive like that! Also, I was wondering if an old AGP Radeon 9250 graphics card would be sufficient to drive this display until I can eventually upgrade to a much more powerful rig, since what I’m currently running seems more than enough for my specific needs

This card can handle HD resolution without breaking a sweat... the monitor itself is solid, and honestly, you can't beat the price—it’s a steal. The only catch is that the stand is fixed, so there’s zero tilt or swivel adjustment.

Any suggestions for a new monitor? Looking to stay around the $567 mark, maybe give or take
...👍 I'd love to hear your reasoning and any hands-on experience you might have! 👍

What size are we talking about?
What kind of hardware specs are you looking for—connectors, tuners, speakers, all that good stuff?
Is this for a hardcore gaming rig or just something casual?
Just give me the rundown on what you actually need—don't sweat the money part, we'll figure out a price that works. 😁

I’m looking to pick up a new monitor, likely in the 24" to 27" range.
It’ll be my go-to for movies, browsing, and gaming; I don't need built-in speakers or a TV tuner.
HDMI connectivity is the priority for me.
Thanks.

And I guess price doesn't matter either, or did you forget to mention that too? 🙂

I assumed my specific requirements wouldn't drive the price up all that much, but I guess it hits $733 max.

24'' - http://www.nabava.net/monitori__90/s...36-24__1021561
27'' - http://www.nabava.net/monitori__90/s...ed-27__1327851

I I'm actually on board regarding the Dell U2311H. It’s cheaper than both of these options, features a superior panel, and the stand offers every possible adjustment you could want.

A 27'' screen is just too massive for gaming when you're sitting close at a desk. You aren't going to have decent reaction times in shooters unless you develop some kind of chameleon vision to cover those wide angles.
