I’m on the same page regarding the Dell u2311h. It’s actually cheaper than both of these, features a superior panel, and the stand offers every adjustment imaginable.

A 27'' screen is just too massive for sitting close at a desk. You won't have decent reaction times in shooters unless you develop chameleon eyes to cover those wide angles.

Don't worry, I don't play FPS games, only strategy titles.
What about the 24" version of that second monitor?
It looks better to me than the first one.

The reviews say the BX2450 is better, but don't take my word for it—or anyone else's here, for that matter. I don't own that monitor, and I doubt most of you do either. We're all just basing this on what we read in test reports. If your goal is gaming, movies, or series, the solution is the Dell u2311h. It's an IPS panel. It isn't LED, but who actually thinks LED offers a real advantage? Dell is built exactly for what you need at a reasonable price. You'd need a ruler to notice it's an inch smaller. Plus, these Samsung models have terrible input options—just one VGA and one HDMI each. The Dell gives you VGA, DVI, and DisplayPort.
If you care about aesthetics, the Dell still beats those shiny, lacquered ones any day.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them some thought. If anyone else has an idea, feel free to throw it out there. 🙂

This isn't strictly about monitors, but the logic is pretty much the same...

So, basically, my mini laptop took a bit of a hit from above—it looks kind of like someone spilled a tiny bit of paint on it or something—and now I'm seeing these weird lines running across the screen :S

Does anyone happen to know how much a replacement display for this model runs? I'm trying to figure out if it’s actually worth getting just the panel repaired, or if I should just bite the bullet and buy a whole new machine.

I own a Dell monitor that Nathan Reyes59 mentioned earlier, and I can confirm it is absolutely excellent.
I offer my full endorsement and nothing but praise.🙂

Alright, I have a practical question for you all. 😁

Let’s say I pick up a solid Dell u2311h, but then my PC fails to output 3D at HD resolution. If I decide to drop the resolution down to 1600x900, or even worse, down to 1200p, what am I actually looking at? Is the image going to look like a jagged, pixelated mess, or what?

Alternatively, should I just kill the AA/AF settings and stick to the native resolution? Which option is the lesser of two evils? 😁

Do you see the dilemma I'm facing here? 😁

I mean, if you can help it, you should always just stick to the native resolution and maybe dial back the settings a bit—rather than messing around with some weird, non-native resolution pushed to max settings. It honestly just looks terrible.

I own this monitor, and I am wondering if it is possible to play 3D games on it using the Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision kit 😕. Hardware shouldn't be an issue; I'm running an i7 paired with SLI GTX 580

So, let's say I pick up that solid Dell u2311h monitor... but then my PC just can't handle 3D at full HD resolution. It's a total bottleneck. So, I decide to drop the resolution down—maybe to 1600x900, or even worse, down to 1200x800... and now I'm left wondering how that actually looks on screen. Will everything look terribly pixelated and jagged... or what?

Or should I just kill the AA/AF entirely and stick to native resolution? Which one is actually worse... 😁

Do you see my dilemma...? 😁

Time to upgrade the rig... It’s happening.

Nah, you’re gonna need a 120 Hz monitor for that.

The picture looks alright—assuming you don't mind using your monitor as a vanity mirror. 🙂

Here’s one that’s a bit bigger.

$30above

Do you actually need an HDMI port?

http://www.nabava.net/monitori__90/s...23-24__1327871 So, I was looking at this monitor—is it actually any good for an xbox360 via HDMI? Also, I'm wondering if I can hook up my PC using a DVI connection from the computer into the HDMI port on the monitor... since this Samsung doesn't have a DVI input, which is a bit of a bummer, right?

So, I actually stumbled upon this really interesting model just now. But then, of course, it’s totally unavailable in any of our local stores here in the States. Typical, right? 😢

So, I finally kicked the bucket on my old Samsung T200 Star from early 2009. Honestly, who even knows when it was actually bought, maybe back in $150, but it worked perfectly fine until now. It even came with the original DVI and power cables included.
