Missing posts

It appears that several of my previous contributions have vanished from the feed... which leaves me wondering whether this is merely a technical glitch or if the moderators have seen fit to purge them

If they were indeed removed, I find myself questioning the reasoning behind such a decision, especially since I received no prior warning or notification regarding any violations...

They probably just nuked the posts, and the mods don't necessarily have to give you a heads-up unless you actually picked up a yellow or red card.

I didn't receive any formal warning or anything, but I think it would be reasonable to be notified when a post is deleted, if only so I can ensure I don't repeat the same "mistake" again...

Threads regarding invitations—someone was asking about which private trackers are most prominent, and I simply used acronyms for a few sites (if that's against the rules, I'd appreciate being let in on it)

How many posts are you missing?
It’s possible some chat thread got nuked, which would explain why your count is off.
Honestly, it happens to everyone from time to time.

I believe there is only one, specifically the one I already mentioned, as my other contributions to that Threads remain posted there...

This happens to other people from time to time too. I don't know the exact reason, but it’s definitely a thing that occurs.
Maybe try sending a DM to one of the Moderators; they might be able to give you some clarity.

The same thing happened to me, just yesterday. Are you speaking from experience there? I'm wondering how many mistakes you could have possibly made with only two posts under your belt?!

Where would the moderators even find the time to explain every single deleted post? They've already got enough on their plates. A few posts being up or down doesn't really change much.

It wasn't even a lengthy post, really; my concern isn't about the length, but rather understanding exactly what I phrased incorrectly so I can steer clear of it in the future, given how significant the topic actually was...

I’m talking about the specific guidelines regarding what can't be posted and what just doesn't fly on this forum
So, honestly, instead of expecting the mods to spend their entire lives playing hall monitor, maybe you all could actually utilize the existing rules to lighten their workload, allowing them to actually enjoy being part of the community, which is clearly the whole reason they showed up here in the first place.

Could someone clarify something for me? If I happen to get banned from a specific thread, subforum, or off-topic section, does that mean I'm kicked off the entire site? Thanks.

It really depends on the severity. You might find yourself restricted from just one specific sub-forum while still having access to the rest of the site. For instance, if you get barred from the Software section, you can still jump into discussions everywhere else—it’s just that particular area where the door is closed.
However, if you receive a site-wide ban—whether it's a direct moderator action or due to reaching a certain threshold of rule violations—you won't be able to post in any single thread or sub-forum on the platform. 🙂

P.S.—If you do end up under a site-wide ban, there's a dedicated space reserved exclusively for those users. It's essentially a place where you can appeal a decision you think is unfair or ask about the reasoning behind your restriction. The permissions are locked down so regular users can't wander in. We call it the ban corner.

I was literally just thinking the same thing. Reading posts like that is just painful. I mean, nobody writes like that on their iPhone, right? We have standard keyboards with all the proper characters available—if everyone else can manage to use them, why can't a few of you stuck in the stone age?
