Hey there. I think I might be having some issues with Windows 7—not really sure if it's just me or the OS itself. When I try to create a folder within the Start Menu using Windows Explorer, it creates a New folder, but then won't let me rename it, copy anything, or even move files into it. It just throws this error:

image

Another thing—one of my games was running incredibly slow today, almost like it was stuck in slow motion. Then, after I closed the game, I got a message saying my Windows isn't genuine, even though I used that "patch" to extend the activation period...

Thirdly, Windows Media Player stopped working for me today. It was fine before, but now it just gives me a "system fail" message.

If anyone happens to have a fix for this, I'd really appreciate the help... Other than that, Windows 7 has been running great... If only I didn't have this Seagate 7200.11 😢 .......

unless you happen to be an advanced power user, right?🥳

p.s.
That was actually meant as a rhetorical question.😉

I actually use it as my primary OS because I’ve spent the time getting everything dialed in perfectly. Every single driver works flawlessly, all my software runs without a hitch, and the whole system feels rock solid—no crashes whatsoever.☕

Oh man, it just clicked for me now... were you actually talking to those people who have been complaining that Windows 7 is total garbage or that it isn't working properly for them? Is that what you meant? 😬 My mistake, I totally misread the room...😁

The second thing that happened today is that one of my games was running incredibly poorly, almost like I was playing in slow motion. Then, once I closed the game, I got hit with a notification saying my Windows isn't genuine, even though I used a "patch" to extend the trial period...

Thirdly, as of today, Windows Media Player has stopped working entirely. It was running perfectly fine before, but now it just displays a "system fail" message.

If anyone happens to have a solution for these headaches, I would truly appreciate the help... Aside from all this, Windows 7 has been performing beautifully... It wouldn't be nearly as smooth if I didn't have my Seagate 7200.11 😢 .......

Well, looking at what you wrote above, it actually explains pretty clearly why you can't change the folder name... it's likely because the folder is either currently open or being accessed by another background process. Also, why on earth would you try to patch your operating system when you could have just grabbed the CD key from the Microsoft website and activated it properly?☕ As for your Windows Media Player failing and your game lagging, you might have picked up some malware along the way. Did you happen to install an antivirus program yet?

Sean Perez21 said:Well, it actually tells you right there why you can't rename the folder... it's either open or some program is using it. And I guess—why were you even trying to patch Windows when you could have just grabbed the CD key from the Microsoft website and activated it?☕ As for Windows Media Player acting up and your game lagging, maybe you picked up a virus?? Did you even install an antivirus?

Try doing this—go to Start > right-click All Programs > Open All User Files, then head into Programs and try to do what I did.

I tried going to the site, but it kept refreshing on me and wouldn't load the page, so I couldn't get the key. That's why I was asking if that patch was the way to go.

I used to have AVG, but it was causing issues with my SC:09 gameplay. Since I'm ranked pretty high in that game, I didn't want to let an antivirus mess with my position... I'll admit, I don't really know much about antivirus software, so I'm not sure which one is good—it seems like they all cause problems for me...

mistyrider95 said:Why don't you give it a shot and see if you can replicate my results? If you head over to the Start Menu, right-click on "All Programs," and select "Open All Users," you should be able to navigate directly into the Programs folder. Once you're in there, try following the exact steps I used and see if it works for you.

I headed out to the job site earlier today, but I ran into a massive headache—the webpage kept constantly refreshing on me. It was one of those incredibly frustrating loops where I just couldn't get the page to actually load, which meant I was completely locked out from retrieving my product key. I ended up reaching out to see if anyone could weigh in on whether that specific patch was actually the right fix for this kind of issue.

I used to run AVG antivirus, but it was causing constant stuttering in SC, and since I’ve worked hard to climb the ranks in that game, I just couldn't risk my standing over some software issues. To be honest, I’ve never really had much luck with antivirus programs; it feels like every time I install one, it ends up creating more problems than it actually solves. I'm still trying to figure out which one might actually work without being a headache.

Hmm... you might be onto something there. I can't seem to find a way around it either. I'm starting to wonder if User Account Control is the culprit here—do you happen to have that setting turned on? 🤔 Maybe try giving it a full restart and see if that clears things up? Honestly, I’m feeling a bit too lazy to go through the whole shutdown and reboot process right now—it feels like such a chore just to turn it back on again.☕

By the way, when you're setting up the antivirus, go ahead and install Norton 360.

I managed to strip the beta version of MSN using a key, and everything seemed fine right up until the point where it started hunting for drivers.
I’ve got Windows XP SP3 running on an Acer Aspire 5315, which was originally designed for Linux and Windows Vista. The laptop is pretty much brand new—just like me, really—so I’m feeling a bit lost on where to even start. It can't find any drivers at all, even when I try browsing. Is there a way to preload the Vista drivers before I commit to installing Windows 7? Right now, XP is running okay, except for the fact that I have no Ethernet since there aren't any XP drivers for it, though the WiFi and Broadband are working perfectly.
What should my next move be? I’d really appreciate some help here; I've been struggling with this for two days now, and living out in the rural Midwest makes it pretty tough to just pop into a shop for expert tech support.😢

To my fellow "advanced users"... I was greeted by the dreaded Blue Screen of Death immediately after installing a driver for my monitor. The first attempt at a system repair actually worked, but naturally, the second one failed miserably. Honestly, these beta releases aren't even worth the disk space they occupy; this was a beta version, and I can guarantee it will never touch my machine again. You all seem to think everything is running flawlessly, but there's always a crack in the foundation—if it were perfect, it wouldn't be labeled as a beta.

REGARDS,

You're such a joke, I'll catch you later on MSN.😁

Catch you later on MSN. 😁

😂😂😂 Since when does a monitor actually require a driver just to function properly? 😂 🤣I mean, I'm well aware that drivers often come bundled with monitors, but I have yet to encounter a situation where they were truly indispensable for basic operation...😂 😁

Is anyone else out there running into issues when trying to listen to MP3s or any audio files in general, especially after installing that specific patch Microsoft released to handle them??? I mean, the music actually plays, but the sound quality is just... well, it’s terrible! It sounds all distorted and "crunchy," almost exactly like you're trying to tune into a low-quality FM radio station with nothing but static!

Everything seems to be working perfectly fine on my end when it comes to MP3 playback...☕

Which version are you guys running? Are we talking 32-bit or 64-bit? And honestly—in your opinion—which one actually performs better? Oh boy...

Personally, I stick with 32-bit Windows because my current machine is only rocking about 1GB of RAM. It’s just a matter of necessity at this point. Once I get around to upgrading my setup with some more memory, I’ll be making the jump to 64-bit without a second thought. In fact, moving forward, any new computer I pick up will definitely have 64-bit Windows installed right out of the box.☕

I tried hitting up the website, but the page kept refreshing constantly. I couldn't even grab my key because the site just wouldn't load properly. When I asked around for advice on whether this patch was legit...

I used to run AVG, but it kept messing with my SC performance. Since I'm actually pretty high ranked in that game, I wasn't about to let some antivirus tank my standing. Honestly, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to antivirus software; everything I try seems to cause some kind of headache...

To get SC:09 running, you just need to right-click the icon on your desktop and select "Run as Administrator." That should fix it.

As for your constant unsolicited advice... please, I am begging you, just spare me.
Well, you’ve gone and done it now; you have truly managed to make an absolute fool out of yourself.

The Samsung SyncMaster 2263 DX does indeed possess its own dedicated drivers, so please, I implore you—let us move past this redundant line of questioning once and for all.

Greetings to all.

If you want drivers, just head straight to the manufacturer's site. That’s where everything lives. I use an HP laptop, so I just plug in my model number and download whatever I need. It’s really that simple. As for Windows 7, it runs like a dream on my machine. You can find more details over on the eXtreme forums.

If that watermark in the bottom right corner is driving you crazy, you can get rid of it using this little tool:

You can probably just strip out that "send feedback" part too
But honestly? The smartest move is just to wipe the whole beta off your damn computer entirely. :F^^

It actually started working after I uninstalled AVG—so that was a win. But now there's a new issue... when I try to install COD 5, I keep getting error 1628: Failed to complete installation. It happens right at the moment where InstallShield is supposed to kick in. Anyone know what might be causing this?

It’s a total bust; I keep getting an error saying I have to run the program with admin rights, which is hilarious because, of course, I am running it as an administrator.
@Raymond Sanders84/">@@Raymond Sanders84, any chance you could drop a working link?
