Sherlock Holmes: New movie in theaters now

Has anyone actually sat down and watched the original version starring Laurence Olivier? I think the concept of having Michael Caine back in the same movie but playing from the opposite perspective is pretty cool. Based on the trailer and everything else, it looks interesting—especially since I’ve read some comments saying the dialogue is just brilliant. What do you guys think?

I don’t have a massive amount of memory left regarding that movie, though that’s likely just because I didn't particularly enjoy it... The one thing that actually stuck with me was the house where everything takes place—it had some really cool gadgets and there was this one other element that felt way too obvious, but I won't spoil it for you all just yet.
By the way, I hadn't even realized this was a remake, and now that I know, it makes perfect sense why the whole plot felt so incredibly predictable.

I have. It’s easily one of my favorite chamber thrillers—pure entertainment watching Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine trade barbs for over two hours.

This remake is an absolute disaster.
Avoid it at all costs...

I’ve only ever watched the original. A perfect 10 out of 10. Keeping the lead actor on board was an inspired move.

I caught the remake recently—didn't see the original, by the way—and honestly? It was one of the better thrillers I watched all last year. Now, if you’ve already seen the original, you might find this version a bit underwhelming or even totally predictable. But if you haven't? It is absolutely worth your time.
