Best work laptop under $1,000?

Yo, what’s up everyone? I'm on the hunt for a new work laptop, and I’m planning to just grab it from some online retailer like Best Buy or Newegg or whatever. Here’s the breakdown of what I’m looking for:

- Storage needs to be an SSD—any combo works, maybe 128 GB paired with an HDD, but honestly, let's stick to at least a 256 GB SSD
- At least 8 GB of RAM
- 15-inch screen size
- Dual monitor support (doesn't matter which ports, but having HDMI + DisplayPort would be killer)
- Ideally, I want it without Windows or an Nvidia card pre-installed, since I'm planning to run Linux (specifically Ubuntu) on it

The workload is actually pretty heavy, too. This isn't just me messing around with Word or Excel; I'll be running a virtual machine, so 8 GB of RAM is the absolute bare minimum. As for the processor, I'd love something beefier if the price stays reasonable, but I guess I could settle for an i5

Honestly, I can't get behind laptops at this price point if they only offer a 1-year warranty.

Look, by law you get a full 24-month warranty anyway. These 12 months are just for the easy stuff—handling claims directly through the service center without the headache.

That Dell looks decent enough. It’s got an FHD screen. You can probably hunt down an i7HQ in that price range too, but this one's alright.

There is a specific line from HP where, if it comes with a 9-cell battery, they actually provide a three-year warranty covering both the laptop and the battery itself. I haven't seen that elsewhere.

It looks great to me, and apparently, the battery lasts over 15 hours under actual workload.

Looks solid, especially with that FHD screen. Only catch is the processor—it's a bit weak if you actually need some real horsepower under the hood.
