At the end of the first stint, Vettel was leading the pack. Then Max and Kimi pitted, coming out right behind him—and they were sitting on much older rubber than he was.😉
If he’d just stuck to that two-stop strategy, the win would've been his. No question about it.
At that moment, the only guy ahead of him was Daniel Ricciardo—and let's be real, he didn't stand a prayer of pulling off a win with two pit stops.

That could actually be true... But when they were locked in a direct battle for performance, neither Ferrari could hold their own. It really came down to needing fewer pit stops to stay in the hunt.

Niki Lauda has already gone on the record doing the exact opposite, so I imagine the other two will do everything in their power to smooth things over now.
@ruggedhawk20 - I find that unlikely. Much like what happened with Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber after Canada, they might play nice for a while, but the sense of teamwork is dead. This could easily ripple out and impact the driver market as well.

Just adding even more salt to that poor guy's wound. 😢
Yeah, he lost everything. He’s not a bad driver by any means, but he just lost it all...
Which points? What points exactly did Daniel Ricciardo lose by his performance, which he would have secured if he had just stayed behind Sebastian Vettel? Maybe take a quick look at the race standings before embarrassing yourself with claims like that.

If he hadn't dropped out, how many points would he have actually scored?

On top of that, Ricciardo had noticeably fresher rubber.
Ferrari's tactics for Vettel were pure, unadulterated stupidity. 🤦
15 US, 15 NM, 8 US, 29 NM 😵
The only way to forgive them is if those US tires started falling apart in the third stint, forcing the pit stop, but otherwise, it’s madness squared...
Though even that isn't an excuse because that second stint should never have been that short...
It’s easy to trash Ferrari just to defend your favorite driver who failed to deliver once again...👎
The only hero of this race was Verstappen, though the Red Bull pit wall also messed up regarding Ricciardo...
Why didn't Vettel attack Red Bull Racing during the first stint when he was obviously faster? He just trailed them, waiting to pit... Ferrari tried to jump ahead of Ricciardo by switching tactics, which worked, but nobody expected Max to pull through on mediums for over 30 laps...

steelmaker83 said:It isn't an error. They are splitting the strategies and letting Max Verstappen drive. Red Bull is playing for the win. Max Verstappen actually has a shot.
steelmaker83 said:Max Verstappen until the end, 30 laps left, just right.

Nobody?

That was actually a solid tactical move on his part. Even considering how things played out, Kimi couldn't quite make it happen, which just goes to show how fast the Red Bull Racing car truly is. I’m not taking anything away from Verstappen’s win—he drove an incredible race. Honestly, once the Mercedes are back up to speed, nobody else is going to have a shot at the next few races. The real losers today were Hamilton and Ricciardo. Everyone else managed to walk away with more points. Both of them just made some costly mistakes.

Kimi Räikkönen drove that one really well. He’s looking much stronger this season, and I’m honestly happy to see it.
Sebastian Vettel wasn't anything special today, though he did a solid job defending against Daniel Ricciardo.
I’ve never been a fan of Daniel Ricciardo, and today just proved why. He lacks any real tactical sense—kind of like Lewis Hamilton—just driving aggressively whenever he can. Honestly, I'm glad he had that tire failure.
Lewis Hamilton proved his lack of judgment once again. I have no idea why he thought trying to pass Nico Rosberg in the opening lap was a good move. It’s a shame because he's a great driver, but that was just a foolish decision.
To be honest, the race was pretty dull.
I am not a Vettel fan, but rather more of a Kimi fan, yet:
1. Kimi completely botched the start, and by the end, he wasn't even a threat to Verstappen..
2. The pit wall completely ruined the race for Sebastian Vettel.
If I recall correctly, Vettel was positioned behind Verstappen, so perhaps there might have been a genuine chance at victory...
It is time for Kimi to retire, unfortunately.😢
