Richard Lewis16 said:honestly, I ride right down the middle of the tracks all the time (it's just the fastest way, okay?) just like a bunch of other people I see out there, and so far, zero issues
same thing on the main drags where I bike often too (not every single day though)

I used to ride like that to high school, but man, I just don't have the energy for it anymore. You're constantly looking over your shoulder to see if a streetcar is gonna clip you, or you're playing slalom through crowds in pedestrian zones. Then you're dodging people where they aren't even supposed to be walking, or just waiting to see who's actually going to check their blind spot before pulling right—or just trying to squeeze through a gap when you're riding in the street. It's nonstop stoplights and constant traffic... total headache. On the flip side, once you hit those wide boulevards like Broadway or Sunset, you can pretty much just cruise at 25-30 mph with half your brain turned off, without hitting a red light every two blocks.

I mean, I don't really know, I usually just cruise along at maybe 25 or 30 mph... I don't go out of my way to tail the streetcars too closely, though I do make sure I know exactly where they're pulling over so I can pass them...
The only light that seems to have a personal vendetta against me is that one intersection over by the industrial district near the highway

I definitely hear what you're saying about the pedestrians, but I've kind of found a workaround by just following right behind the transit buses so they clear the debris off the road for me all the way from the suburbs down to the downtown plaza😉

I honestly can't stand driving through the heavy commercial zones on the main boulevard, so I try to steer clear of those areas whenever possible
And besides, there’s just no point in driving all the way from the north side down toward the outskirts only to have to loop back around toward the business park again

Yeah, I get it, heading south isn't really your vibe. But Leo is hanging out over in the Spanish district and he’s got that trail right by the Ljubljana path just waiting for him...

Anyway, he should just give it a shot and see which one he actually digs more.

Back when I was in my early twenties, I used to ride my bike to work every single day..
I’m talking about an 8-mile commute to the next town over, though I don't really do that much anymore because, honestly, I tend to sweat like crazy even when it's freezing out, so I usually end up feeling pretty gross and soaked by the time I get to the office or head home.
But if you have the chance, I guess you should absolutely go for it! 👍

What do you guys think? Any chance I can snag a parking spot near Draskovic today? I've got to head into work right around there. 😁

Man, today is just pure chaos... the whole city is basically at a standstill because of some absolute idiot out there...

Anyone got a solid recommendation for a rear bike rack?
Looking for something based on actual experience—not just what the manual says. :-)

Wait, they actually shut down the entire city because of you?

What’s the end goal here? Are you planning on hauling gear down to the coast for a weekend trip, or is this just for running errands around town? 🙂

I need a bag.
I’m taking the long way home—but I'll grab one since I'm commuting by bike now and want to ditch the backpack entirely.🙂
I was checking out something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/example-bike-bag
The Zefal Raider—it's about 2 lbs and comes with a fender included.

It’s a bit of a splurge, but if it actually holds up, I won't have to buy another one for a while.

Nah, not quite... it was more like some high-ranking official in a suit triggered a state of emergency right in the heart of the city
they really should have just given everyone the day off so nobody would be stuck dealing with all that chaos...

Don't worry, based on how things are heading, they'll find a way to ensure nobody is doing anything at all very soon.

So, I finally decided to bike to work for the first time today, and honestly? I’m pretty happy with how it went. 🙂
I clocked in nearly 15 miles miles total, so I'm feeling a little wiped out. But since I haven't really been on a bike for more than 15 years, I actually did better than I expected. My route takes me from Borcec (just past Gannic) over toward the mosque, so a good chunk of it is on decent bike paths. Riding along Boston was pretty smooth too, though navigating Fifth Avenue near Wall Street was a bit nerve-wracking with all the distracted pedestrians. I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it, though.
If I wake up feeling refreshed tomorrow, I'll definitely 🙂

So, I’m officially a newbie cyclist now.😁

Ever since I switched jobs, my routine went out the window—no gym, no workouts, nothing. Honestly, after grinding all day at the office, I just don't have the bandwidth to care once the habit breaks.

But now that the weather is actually decent and I found this chill bike path through the park, commuting has become the best part of my day.

Best part? It only adds maybe 10 minutes compared to taking the subway. I ride slow enough that I don't even break a sweat, and instead of face-planting onto my couch the second I get home, I actually have energy left.
🙂

Congrats, Jamie Ramos48! 👍 People don't believe it's actually like this until they experience it themselves... 🙂.

I don’t actually live in New York City—it’s quite a commute... 11 miles one way, which means 21 miles.
I’ve been considering biking to work next year, but I have some serious reservations about the sweating part. My schedule is split right down the middle—half my day is spent in the office, and the other half is out in the field.

Can you change clothes at the office?

First thing you gotta do is hop in the shower before heading out, especially during those brutal summer months...
So you gotta head out a little earlier, because 11 miles it’s honestly such a vibe cruising at a good speed just to enjoy the ride instead of sweating through your clothes, which gets you to work in about an hour or so.
Then, right before hitting the office, one more quick bathroom break, grab some wet wipes to deal with any leftover sweat.
Throw on another quick layer of deodorant, and boom... that's it...
...ready to crush a new workday...

And when you're finally heading back home? Man, it doesn't even matter if you're sweaty or not...
