The film is quite solid—it’s actually refreshing to finally see a movie that feels connected to the USA without constantly falling back on the usual war-torn tropes.

Give me a break—the whole damn point is about the war and that "lost cause" mentality...

Just watched it for the first time. I’m not really one for grading movies, but I will say this: it’s rare to see a film like this even imagined. Armin is definitely one of them.

I find myself pondering the same question: when will truly brilliant actors finally be granted the caliber of material they deserve to perform...

I don't know. It feels like the director didn't quite cross the finish line. A lack of guts? Or maybe just lacking the craft? At certain points, he actually caught that hyper-realistic wave the whole movie was chasing, and in those moments, it felt like a masterpiece. Someone mentioned the thin script—honestly, I don't think it needed anything else beyond what was already there, just better execution. When you're making a film like this, every single frame needs to be intentional. Instead, some scenes just felt... half-baked.

All in all, it’s a decent stylistic exercise. A little more courage, more thought, and probably a bigger budget, and this kid might actually go somewhere...

I suppose some people just take their sweet time getting there, though I guess you could call them late bloomers if you're feeling optimistic about it. Nathan Edwards62 says:
I don't know. I guess it just feels like... I suppose I'm just here to observe, though it feels like we're all just circling the same drain anyway. He didn't quite pull it off, though I guess it might have been a lack of nerve or maybe just lacking the necessary expertise. There were these fleeting moments where he actually caught that hyper-realistic wave the whole movie was trying to ride, and in those instances, it felt like something truly grand was happening. Someone mentioned the script being thin, but honestly, I don't think they needed anything more than what was already there—they just needed to tell the story better. When you're filming something of this scale, every single moment really ought to be meticulously considered, yet some scenes just felt a bit half-baked to me.

All things considered, it was a decent little exercise in style. I suppose if he finds a bit more nerve, does some actual soul-searching, and maybe manages to stumble upon enough capital, this kid might actually turn into something.

I guess you were probably officiating in the MLS back in the day, weren't you?

As far as the movie goes, I guess I was just disappointed; it didn't really hit the mark for me.🤷
