For as long as I can remember, I’ve had these—how should I put this—spotty visual disturbances. It feels like they’re just drifting through my field of vision until I stabilize my gaze, at which point they settle down, though they never truly disappear. I’ve been wearing glasses since the turn of the millennium...

Now, I was perfectly fine with living with that. But over the last six months, a new spot has developed in my right eye—right in the center, actually—and every single time I try to focus on something, it just blurs the whole image.

WTF? Is there an actual medical term for this, or am I just dealing with some temporary glitch? thanks...

I was pretty much used to them, but about six months ago, this intense spot popped up right in the center of my right eye. Every single time I try to focus on something, it just blurs everything out.

WTF? Is there actually a name for this, or is it just some temporary thing? thanks...

Go see a doctor... seriously, don't mess around with this stuff... I deal with vision issues myself, and the more I dig for answers online, the more nothing makes sense...

Just book an appointment with an ophthalmologist and get checked out... you aren't going to find anything useful on the internet...

I’ve got these weird spots too. It’s like they’re following whatever I’m looking at... honestly, I have no clue what's going on.

Supposedly, that could be an early sign of retinal detachment... you really shouldn't mess around with stuff like that... might be a good idea to go see an ophthalmologist...

It might turn out to be nothing, or it could be anything... but it's better to get a professional opinion and actually sleep at night, rather than beating yourself up later for being too stubborn to go...

I actually went to see my eye doctor, but I totally blanked and forgot to bring it up. He just gave me a prescription for -0.5 glasses and called it a day.

My eye doctor at the clinic told me it’s just some vitreous floaters

But honestly, it could be uveitis too—which is pretty nasty since that's an actual inflammation... so you should probably get checked out just to be sure what we're dealing with

I’ve got this tiny little thing, like a stray hair, floating in my right eye. It shows up once in a while, super thin, and I think I only catch it when I’m really staring at it. Moves whenever I look up or down. Went to see my doctor and she claimed it’s because I’m low on protein or something like that.

It looks like everyone is describing the exact same thing I am experiencing...

The last thing I heard was that certain areas were just peeling away—as if it were some sort of natural process—and falling off... making it look like it's drifting...

But honestly, this has been stuck in the same spot on my right eye for quite a while now, and it’s driving me absolutely crazy...

Well, nothing for it—I'm heading to see a doctor... thanks to everyone for the input.

The last bit of info I picked up was that some layers near the iris are just peeling away—a natural process, apparently—and falling off... making it look like something is drifting...

But honestly, this has been stuck in the same spot in my right eye for a while now, and it’s driving me insane...

Anyway, I'm heading to the doctor... thanks for all the input, everyone.

Looking at all these replies, it’s pretty obvious how much conflicting information you can find floating around out there...

One minute it's uveitis, then it's peeling, then proteins, then laser ablation, blah blah blah... you end up with no idea what's actually happening...

And eventually, you just get overwhelmed by the noise and want to throw in the towel...

But don't do that... go see a specialist, walk them through every single detail of what's happening, and then you'll have a roadmap...

Because clearly, there are plenty of different things that could be triggering this... you need to figure out which one it is for you...

Just one question—do these spots persist constantly, or do they only show up occasionally?
To be clear, I deal with cervical spine issues, which often lead to intense bouts of vertigo. On top of that, I have significant astigmatism in my right eye—about 90 percent. Every so often, I experience what I call "strange vision." It’s essentially a blurriness characterized by white spots, tiny specks, and things of that nature. When the dizziness hits, this "strange vision" tends to intensify.
Has anyone else here dealt with anything similar?

hmmm, I’m not seeing things play out quite that way on my end—though, to be fair, I also deal with astigmatism...

So, what's the situation on your end?
How high is your astigmatism level?

So, I finally made it to the eye doctor today... and here’s the diagnosis...

Cloudy vision... apparently, there's no quick fix.

The verdict? My myopia—and some nonsense about circulation issues because my eye tension isn't quite where it needs to be, or so they say... I have no idea. I guess I just have to adjust and deal with it... damn... life goes on. ☕

It’s called eye floaters. I only get them occasionally, though I haven't quite figured out what triggers them. Sometimes I try to "catch" them or focus on them, but it's a lost cause 😁

It’s pretty much the same here, though I usually call them "white mice" instead...😁
and occasionally a stray hair decides to tag along for the ride...
