Alright, let's be real... I know most of you here are heavy drinkers,🤣 so look... I’m not saying I’m a lush or anything. I might have a glass of wine or a beer on the weekend, but nothing excessive.
The issue started this summer and it just hasn't let up. Every single time I have any alcohol, the next day feels bizarre—just pure weakness in my hands and legs. Then, during the night, my stomach starts turning. I already know what people will say: "Go see a doctor" or "Just stop drinking." Well, I actually went to the doctor recently for something else and had a full blood panel done. Everything came back perfectly normal—and we all know blood work doesn't lie.
Now, look, quitting isn't a crime. But these symptoms hit me even after just one single beer. It makes me wonder...😕
Have any of you dealt with something similar, or does anyone actually know what's going on?🙄

Well, finding where to grab a drink isn't exactly a Herculean task... and honestly, if a single beverage bothers you that much, then it bothers me too. Actually—and I say this quite sincerely—I’m actually rather grateful that my body doesn't handle alcohol well. Given my tendency toward addictive personalities, had I grown up in a different environment or possessed a more resilient constitution, I might have ended up six feet under by now! As it stands, I don't physically tolerate much, nor do I view drinking as particularly high-quality entertainment. There are certainly larger issues than being unable to get buzzed, and there are far better ways to spend an evening than being intoxicated.
If your physical well-being and how you feel the next morning are more important to you than a beer, then simply don't drink it—it's really that simple, isn't it? But, if you find yourself in a position where you can't quite say no, at least make sure you're prioritizing nutrients—specifically vitamins—since alcohol tends to interfere with absorption... and hydration is absolutely paramount, as dehydration likely comes quite easily to you.
In short: don't drink if you're exhausted, if your diet isn't top-notch, or if you aren't staying hydrated. It's all about vitamins, hydration, and rest. Personally, I enjoy adding lemon to my beer—sometimes I even mix it with sparkling water. I also don't have the habit of grabbing a drink at a coffee shop; I usually stick to having a drink at home or perhaps during a nice dinner out. And, of course, I always follow up with plenty of water. My advice? Order something with a lower alcohol content—most places offer more than just two types of beer anyway—and don't let those silly people smirk at you when you order a light or non-alcoholic option. They're being ridiculous, really.

It’s not that I can't handle a beer, but it’s just not happening lately... what really bothers me is why this change happened out of nowhere. I have no idea what could be causing it. I drink plenty of water, take my vitamins, eat fruit—all the usual stuff

A "full" panel, really?
If you actually meant what you wrote here, you’d be getting referrals for half a dozen other tests already.

Blood doesn't tell the whole story.
If someone's alcohol tolerance suddenly shifts, it's a massive red flag that other things are changing internally too.
Cause and effect. It's simple physics.
Look, there isn't much else to say: either stop drinking or go see a doctor.

I went for a full blood panel—and I mean a truly comprehensive one. Everything came back normal. I also saw an ophthalmologist for some neurological screenings regarding my head, and those results were fine too. 😲

It is a persistent reality that those who drink heavily often suffer from a severe deficiency in B vitamins, though frankly, even the occasional social drinker isn't immune to these deficits.
I have gradually begun to slow my own pace, as my lifestyle isn't quite as frenetic as it once was, but back when I was drinking constantly, I didn't experience these specific issues; then they started creeping in, and it wasn't until I began supplementing with Vitamin B that things finally stabilized.
For whatever reason, your body eventually decides it simply no longer tolerates alcohol, so... you ought to scale back the intoxication. I truly have nothing else to offer you.
Furthermore, once you do decide to cut back, returning to the bottle feels incredibly strange, and you will find that your tolerance is even lower than before. It is a peculiar, unsettling cycle...

So, what kind of issues were you dealing with? By the way, thanks for getting back to me...🙂
I was actually hoping to find someone else facing similar struggles...but apparently, I’m on my own here. lol

It’s not about your blood, it's your liver. Sure, you might have twenty ounces of liquid in you, but how many weekends did you roll in drunk? It’s not about the amount you drink, it’s about how often you get wasted. Those are textbook symptoms of an addiction. You're young, but... maybe it's time to quit entirely, or...

No "Alkić" ever admits it. Maybe you aren't there yet, but you're definitely on the fast track.

True, but liver issues often manifest through bloodwork results as well.

WHEN DOES THIS END? WHEN DO I ACTUALLY START LIVING A REAL LIFE? I mean, constant drinking and being wasted every single day...👍

A buddy of mine asked an older guy this exact thing, and honestly, it’s what I’m wondering too. His answer? Probably forever, or whenever you feel like stopping.

I honestly believe that having a single drink... maybe one beer or two glasses of wine... doesn't constitute intoxication. And I'm not talking about daily habits either. We're looking at once every two or three weeks. That's my take on it.

Look

The main thing is just don't lie to yourself, okay?
I get that saying "no" when everyone else is doing it is brutal, but honestly, it’s worth the effort.👍

I suppose I know the answer... naturally, I won't spend my time complaining about it now, especially since I can see how much it’s actually weighing on me.🙂I was simply curious if anyone else here had dealt with similar issues.😉

It’ll likely hit your stomach—maybe an ulcer or just gastritis. I'm just guessing here, but a friend of mine went through something almost identical.

Yeah, I think he cut back on the drinking after the summer, so those pains seem to have eased up even with a little bit of booze... I'm seeing him today, so I'll ask him if it crosses my mind. 😁
