When the trailer is actually better than the movie...

Ever watched a trailer and thought, "Okay, this is it, I have to see this," only to sit through the actual movie and feel completely let down?

I can usually tell exactly what kind of movie I'm getting just by watching the trailer. It’s rare that I get it wrong, but my problem is that I barely watch trailers anymore—I just wait until I hear about a film, go see it, and then end up sitting there wondering, "What on earth was I thinking?"

Oh, all the time. It's happened so often that I've basically stopped watching trailers altogether...

Thunderbirds

The Thunderbirds incredibly good trailer. Honestly, you really need to see it on the big screen in a theater; watching it at home just loses some of that impact. I haven't actually seen the movie yet—it'll probably be a dud—but man, that trailer is phenomenal. 🙏🙏🙏

Looking at this trailer, you’d think the movie was actually decent. It looks like it has action and everything, but the actual film is terrible. I honestly feel bad $4.00 about wasting my money at the local video store on this

P. S. This is supposed to be a romance. Sure, there's some action in the trailer, but there's just as much action in the actual movie.

I think this has actually happened to me three times now
The first time was when I saw the Thunderbirds incredibly good trailer, and I turned to my buddy like, "OMG, did you see the A. V. trailer? I absolutely have to see this movie." Well, when it finally dropped, it was a total letdown. It’s just three hours of people talking in circles, some random romance stuff... honestly, the whole thing was pointless. 👎All the actual battles combined barely last fifteen minutes.
The second time was with AvP. Seriously, they showed that one scene where the Predator is smashing things on the pyramid five different times in the trailer... the movie itself was just brainless.
Third was War of the Worlds. I mean, the movie isn't terrible, but I was expecting a way more interesting ending.😎

I think the filmmaking itself is top-tier, the acting holds up, and honestly, I’m glad Cruise doesn't swoop in to save the world at the end. But the runtime? It's way too short. The movie starts, things go south, the chaos just keeps rolling, and then—bam—it's over. It feels like the director just wanted to get it finished and decided to toss half the script in the trash. In my opinion, this should have been directed by Emmerich. This is one of those movies that needs a solid two and a half to three hours to breathe, not a rushed 105 minutes.
Spielberg, you've got a massive strike against you from me!🙂

And speaking of trailers—look at Open Water. When you watch that trailer, it actually creeps you out; it triggers this genuine sense of panic because of how terrible the main (well, only) actors are. Then you sit down for the actual movie and it's pure filth. For the first twenty minutes, I genuinely thought I was watching an adult film...

The trailer for "300" is easily one of the best pieces of marketing I've ever seen. It’s honestly a shame the actual movie didn't quite reach that same level. If you ask me, the trailer actually packs more of a punch than the film itself.

As for War of the Worlds—that was an excellent movie.

I’m with you on the 300 mark. That trailer totally hyped me up, only for the actual movie to leave me feeling completely cold.

It’s the exact same story as the new Star Wars films.

The Star Wars Episodes I, II, III trailers were actually pretty decent, though if I'm being honest, the movies themselves were kind of a mess. I still think the original wars were the way to go.

Take >. When I saw the trailer, I was expecting this epic, climactic showdown, but because they drag everything out so much, I find myself just waiting for the end—waiting for that "final great fight"—only for it to suddenly go thud and be over. 😠
BTW, I nearly lost it when the line started, "if things go south, shove a die up my... (I could hear all sorts of jokes in the theater, even some kid next to me whispered <ass>)... chest" (and everyone went "awww"). 😂

J..... Stupid movie (at least if you ask me) - Wicker Man (Cage, Burstyn... I think). It's a remake.

I caught this trailer the other day and decided to give the movie a shot, even though I'm really not a huge fan of Kubrick... Based on the trailer alone, I actually thought it might be worth my time. Turns out, I was dead wrong. It was a total disappointment.

Honestly, most movies...
though lately, two really stick in my mind—Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Spider-Man 3.
Both had killer trailers, amazing visuals, fights that actually hurt to watch, cool characters—just phenomenal. I remember us all commenting, "Holy crap, this is gonna be insane, it's gonna be legendary."

But man, they were both just massive disappointments... It pisses me off even thinking about how hyped I was for Venom, only for them to show that idiot who spends the whole time peeling back the Venom face just to make stupid expressions, and then the rest of that mess... just killing people for no reason...
