So my period was supposed to show up on the 12th—but it’s already 4 days late. It was late by 4 days last month too, though, so I did end up getting it eventually. It’s never been this late before... usually it's just a day or maybe two, I guess. I have zero pregnancy symptoms either—no dizziness, feeling weak, passing out, nothing. So why is it late?

Well, are you on birth control?
Have you been sexually active recently?
Usually, the first sign of pregnancy is a missed period. The other symptoms typically follow after that...

It could be stress, or perhaps just a matter of timing.
However, judging by the fact that she isn't taking any pills and remains quite active...
What about other forms of contraception?

Honestly, just go take a pregnancy test. I didn't have any symptoms at all—well, except for my period being late—and I was pregnant... Not trying to freak you out or anything! 🙂

Wait, so did it actually run late and then show up, or did it just skip entirely? Mine was late last month like I said, but it eventually came

So, is your period running late, or is your cycle just dragging on longer than that "standard" 28-day window?

I mean, it used to be super regular—maybe off by a day or two, but whatever. I know exactly when I'm due, so I can track it. But now, it’s been four days late two months in a row... what if I actually have something wrong with me? Lately, I've gotta run to the bathroom all the time—like, I can barely hold it. I'm up twice a night. And my hair is falling out like crazy whenever I brush it.

But now, for the second month in a row, I'm already four days late! It’s got me worrying—what if something is actually wrong? Lately, I’ve been having to run to the bathroom constantly; I just can't hold it, you know? I’m even waking up like twice a night to go. Plus, my hair has been thinning out like crazy whenever I brush it.

Look, I’m not gonna beat around the bush here—you seriously need to book an appointment with your OB-GYN right away!!

1) It could be a bladder infection or maybe something going on with your kidneys.

2) Or... could it be stress???

Perhaps you ought to consider seeing a physician?
It is entirely plausible that you are dealing with some form of inflammation that has extended to your ovaries, which would certainly explain the delay—are you experiencing particularly painful cycles? Do you find that you suffer from those sharp, sudden pains in your pelvic region without any apparent provocation?

it’s possible you’ve got some kind of inflammation hitting your ovaries—that might be why things are late—do you get bad cramps?

well, my period doesn't even hurt that much—just the first two days, I guess.

and does it ever feel like sharp pains in your ovaries for no reason?

yeah, sometimes. but not really that often.

Go see an OB-GYN.
Just to be safe.
If you find yourself running to the bathroom constantly, head over to your primary care physician to have them run a urinalysis for bacteria—though I’m honestly not sure if an OB-GYN typically handles those specific referrals.
And for heaven's sake, wear an undershirt whenever the temperature drops below 86 degrees.
It likely isn't pregnancy, but one simply does not take chances when it comes to matters of that nature.

Oh sure, then we'll just diagnose you right here on the forum based on your late period and cure you instantly. Yeah, right.

If I remember right, my doctor gave me a referral for a urine culture once. 🙂

and he’s out here wearing undershirts even when it’s not even 90 degrees outside.

I mean, I never wear those tiny crop tops that sit above the belly button—and my back is almost never bare, either. I usually go for slightly longer shirts. Plus, obviously, I wear undershirts during the winter...

Where is all the recent sexual activity actually happening?

You should probably go ahead and pack your bags, head over to the doctor, and let me know how everything turns out. I truly wish you the best of luck with all of this 🙂
and honestly, just pick up a rapid test while you're at it, just to be safe.

If your cycles are regular, it could just be stress or even the weather—like a heatwave,
assuming you've already ruled out everything else, like pregnancy, cysts, and so on.

I'm getting up at least twice a night. On top of that, I've noticed quite a bit of hair loss whenever I brush my hair.

1. It could just be the summer heat. If you've been spending time out on the coast or traveling through the South, the heat might have thrown your cycle off slightly. That seems like the most likely culprit.
2. It could be pregnancy. Frequent urination is often a sign. It all comes down to hormones.
3. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's something serious unless you're experiencing pain when you go.
It's also possible you're just drinking more water because of the summer weather or eating more fruit. Did you eat way too much watermelon or something? Just kidding...
Regardless, why not just pick up a pregnancy test? It's better to know for sure.

Mine was eight days late this time. If it stayed that way every month, I’d actually be thrilled. 🙂
